We were having a conversation today about air horns on the trucks. Some people really like them while others think they are obnoxious and can be weaponized against drivers who don't respond like they should. What are your thoughts on air horns and if you like them, what is appropriate use?

Its a part of Wake County EMS (Raleigh, NC). The County system runs more than 100,000 calls a year. I think there are less than 20 volunteers in the entire system. The agency I am interviewing with is the only 911 organization that takes volunteers within 45 minute drive.

Thanks for all of the feedback! During the training and probationary period, they require no less than 48 hours per month. I intent to maintain that level of service, even after probation. I still want to plan for a 60 hour month, just in case.
