    Advice to the new medics

Work the 911 job and get that experience under your belt, but also try to get a spot on a NET or CCT truck. You’ll gain a much deeper understanding of the disease process by managing vent patients, running drips, and hanging blood. Transporting a vent patient for two hours will teach you more...

    Vents

We use the Zolls. I like them. They are small, compact and do everything I need it to do on a ground CCT truck

    Community Paramedic CP-C prep

I have recently taken a huge interest into developing a community paramedic program. I work in a small rural county, with no access to hospitals and the doctor that everyone used having recently retired. Many of the patients who call 911 don’t want to go to the hospital but feel they have no...

Should I get a multi tool?

I carry the leatherman Skeletool RX on me everywhere, work and off duty. I’ll carry my raptors that were issued to me by my agency as well. The Skeletool has a few screw drivers, pliers, a rescue knife and a glass breaker. Good for almost any situation I’d need a multi tool for

What are you going to do when you retire?

As soon as I get enough flight hours to get to airlines as a pilot, I'll retire from federal service. Being a paramedic for the feds isn't a bad gig though.

How many paramedics dump ice on hyperthemic patients in the field?

The protocols at my new agency (Department of Defense) allows drill sergeants, and other cadre to dunk the patient in an ice water lavage. A core temp is required before doing so. EMS will continue constant core temp monitoring, administer 36 degree IV saline along with either Hypertonic saline...

Is anyone familiar with Lenoir Community College Hybrid Paramedic course?

My Fiancé is in it now. She’s doing well and enjoying it. It’s very much a self learn, and self motivated program though. She completed paramedic school previously but could never complete registry due to some personal health reasons so a lot is a review for her. She’s an AEMT which gave her a...

    Department of the Army paramedic?

I didn’t end up getting a 9. But the stepped me out as a 7. So I’m making the same pay I was at my old job. I’m just swaying a firm offer and EOD now. Thanks for the info. Care if I message you?

Anyone took a break from EMS?

Am I the only one who needed a much needed break from being a Paramedic? Took a year off to go back to aircraft mechanic and recover. 911 SSM burned me out, I couldn’t stand being on an ambulance and helping patients wasn’t fun anymore. Now I’m getting back into EMS and am super excited and...

    CCP-C vs FP-C

If I took CCP-C and later decided to fly, will flight services take the CCP-C?

    CCP-C vs FP-C

I’m taking a critical care course which at the end allows me to test for either CCP-C or FP-C. Which of the two would be of better benefit? Why would you test for one and not the other? What restricts would one give you over the other?

    Department of the Army paramedic?

Does anyone have any experience working as a paramedic as a DOD civilian? I am a current federal employee with the department of the Air Force, a US army vet and am looking at applying for a paramedic spot at Ft Benning. GS-7 level position, but I’d have SAFEPAY making me a GS-9.

    Good transport services?

My fiancé is from Florida, as soon we she finishes paramedic school we are looking to move back to the west coast. Obviously she wants Florida first but we wouldn’t be opposed to other places.

    Good transport services?

Hello. Are there any good ALS transport services out there? I’m at the point in my career where 911 isn’t as fun as it once was, and I much prefer a good ALS or critical care transfer. I hear the horror stories of all the private EMS services and was seeing where some of the better transport...

Medic gigs around the orlando area in florida

You can always do AMR. The do some 911, and you have the option to transfer anywhere in the nation. People will talk ****, but if you show up, run your calls and go home, AMR isn’t terrible. It’s the morale and drama that give it the bad rep.

    Texas EMS Reciprocity

Hello, I was looking at getting my Texas paramedic license so I can start looking at flying here in Oklahoma. I have National Registry, but am confused on how and where to take the texas jurisprudence exam or if it was even needed for paramedic licensure with NRP. Can anyone help point me in...
