Newbie: What to do about feeling carsickness in back of ambulance?!

I use to get sick when I first started. Open the side window. Don’t look at phone or book while moving and smell an alcohol prep. (Always worked to alleviate nausea)

    Bradycardia

Tachycardia initially. If bleeding is extensive and cardiac output suffers then bradycardia can result which is a late sign. But med history/ and medications and presentation will be needed as well

    IBSC

Kinda off topic but took my FP-C today. Definitely harder than I expected but not horrible. Some questions were kinda strangely written

Realistic Job Preview during recruitment phase

Most places I worked at didn’t have a ride along or job preview prior to hire except for my current employer. They offered ride alongs prior for prospective candidates. One AMR division I worked at offered a ride along which I did not do, but ended up being a great division I’m in U.S. as well

    1st Day Driving an Ambulance

not lights related but my rig was wired weird so if the sirens are in the “hand free” position ( like you honk horn to turn them on) and you press the lock button they will go off. Went to a an ER and was walking into ambulance bay with patient. Went to lock the Ambulance and the sirens start...

    AMR Waitlist

Yeah pretty much as long as you do your job, don’t steal supplies, wear a seatbelt and drive by the rules and don’t do pay fraud you’ll be pretty much good. Of course you have to pass training but most the ftos when I left didn’t want to fail anyone. Only a few I know did not pass due to simply...

    AMR Waitlist

Yo, I use to work there as a medic. Busy area with good call diversity from stabbings in downtown to senior citizens in Apple valley and car accidents on the 15 freeway. The waitlist is due to there being so many EMTs. So basically what you got was a “contingent” offer. As EMTs leave, they pick...

Looking for resources for new EMTs

Number one resource: ask questions. I work as a medic in a 911 system and have a BRAND new EMT as my partner. I don’t mind at all but told him just ask questions as they come involving calls. Your not going to know everything going on, I still don’t expect things that I come across. Like...

    EMS Deserts in Connecticut

My place of employment is extremely short on medics, and not uncommon for whole county to be level zero at time ( or no immediate ambulances available). They are also using travel medics on 30-60 rotations. I recently transferred to another county due to distance and am the only new medic to be...

    Level of care

Current place is EMT and one medic. New job is medic/medic for one month then EMT with a medic. Fire jumps on to help out if needed. A nearby county is dual EMT with fire jumping in back of ALS

    Union question regarding hire

Hey y’all, recently got a job offer for a medic position. Not a bad offer but CBA agreement states they will take my 3 years experience but only consider 1/2 towards my hourly pay rate. Is that normal practice?

    Anyone work at Symbiosis? (OC)

Non transport. Normally local 911 provider will be on standby for that. Only exception was the drag races were we would transport to a pre designated heli pad. ( never had to though when I worked there)

Advice: 911 (Non-Transport) to IFT and Back to 911 (Transport)

Oh use to work there too. 911 In OC is pretty straight forward as an EMT. Know how to do the basic skills, if you beat fire on scene have an assessment and report ready to go. 80% of 911 patients are BLS in nature so not much of a difference than IFT other than location of patient.

Advice: 911 (Non-Transport) to IFT and Back to 911 (Transport)

I’m guessing this 911 company is care (aka falk)?

    Anyone work at Symbiosis? (OC)

They used to be known as symons. I worked there as my first EMT job yearsss ago. Basic BLS IFT. There was alot of events at time I worked that exposed you to a lot which was fun. Not sure what they do now, but at time I worked there was plenty in raves out in San Bernardino, marathons, drag...
