The big question is...MD/DO, PA or NP?

I think you need to spend some time reflecting on what exactly you want to do with medicine. The idea that you'll forge ahead and become a CRNA or MD/DO and still have all this spare time to do flight medic on the side is not likely to come to fruition. PA's and NP's are great (and something...

    workout buffs rate my workout?

Jesse, You mention doing 4 sets of 8 reps, but I never actually saw a post re: what your goal is. Are you lifting for fun, to maintain, to get bigger, to get stronger, to help lose weight?? The reason I ask is that will dictate what your sets/reps should be. Getting bigger (hypertrophy of the...

For leg exercises, you could add in walking barbell lunges (clean the bar, press overhead, shoulder it...presumably the same method you use for squats). These can pack quite a punch when mixed in with squats, box jumps, step ups and step downs, etc. If done as a single movement (vs. super...

EMT-B to Paramedic vs. Fire (in FL)

toxik153, I'm in the Lakewood Ranch area of FL (Bradenton, Sarasota). I would prefer to only to medical related calls; I was only looking at getting the fire cert as I thought it was needed in order to be hired. I stopped by one station and the guy told me they won't hire an emt/medic unless...

EMT-B to Paramedic vs. Fire (in FL)

Thanks for the helpful feedback. As a result, I'll be making the rounds to the local rescue stations today to get each unit's specific hiring policies. Again, I appreciate it!

EMT-B to Paramedic vs. Fire (in FL)

Thanks for the quick reply. In that case, does the process go: apply to the FD, get accepted, and then attend training prior to starting work? I assumed the ability to get hired without the cert was zero, but that would be great if I'm incorrect.

    Interested in becoming a paramedic.

I'm in a similar boat...33 and just starting EMT school before heading to Paramedic and/or Fire. As I returned to school a couple years ago after several years in the workforce, I can definitely say I am a better student now than I was previously. The maturity level can be a major advantage as...

    SoCal emt/fire training-online course?

Wow...for that price I could take the courses online, and fly out to CA for the clinical time and still come out cheaper than my local EMT course!

EMT-B to Paramedic vs. Fire (in FL)

Starting my EMT-B course next week, and I'm looking at where to go next in terms of education. My initial plan was EMT to Paramedic (and I have already applied and tentatively received acceptance to the medic course starting shortly after my EMT finishes). I've been looking at jobs in my area of...

Numbers would be helpful for a critique (sets, reps). I certainly understand the lack of a squat rack being a hindrance for a home gym workout...but if you're benching 220 and curling 100, but only squat 140 and deadlift 220, you must have a huge upper body and chicken legs. I'd move the heavy...
