    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

You recommend I do Paramedic school here huh? =( when I've researched school up there it seems either difficult or rare... Surely it can't be impossible though?

    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

As much as Yakima is a possibility, my main point in returning home is because I miss my family and they are in Tacoma and Seattle. I know it's not as far as HERE. But I'm ready to be actually home. I plan on getting my Para and I know that will give me more/different options later on. All of...

Why does EMT level of care exist?

I am mainly referring to BLS calls because we run both BLS/ALS calls. I've worked with a lot of partners but my regular partner over a year and half and he knows what I feel comfortable with and don't and what he feels comfortable with me doing. A lot of the Paras here seem to show great faith...

    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

Thank you, that's very helpful. Maybe I'll see about an AMR transfer. I like SSM, unless there is a service with a station where you actually get to see it. :p And I'd like to try 24s too...

    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

Thank you. I appreciate your input. I don't mind being on a BLS unit, It'd be a different experience. Do you know any info about the BLS services in Seattle/Tacoma/Everett area? Maybe which are doing some 911 or a lot? Less IFT?

    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

When I said a service like here, I specifically meant there being 1 EMT and 1 Paramedic on a unit, not referring to anything more.

    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

Well I've heard TriMed runs a lot of calls, but is it so much that there is no downtime? Is it 24s? I'm ready to be done with being so busy, I'd like something a little more laid back.

    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

It isn't unique to me. It is the only system I know with the exception of some information from people at various other services around the US and any reading I've done over the past few years. It's the only company in this city so I don't have much comparison to go on. I just want to move...

Why does EMT level of care exist?

In all reality it just matters where you work and who you work with. Most of my partners (who are Paramedics) just have me run the calls because that is what we have become comfortable with. If he wants to start an IV or something so be it, but I'm doing the questioning, assessments, etc to...

    How many on your ambulance?

1 EMT, 1 Paramedic. Nothing more. Nothing less.

How many times have you been dispatched to a man down or an “arrest”

Multiple times, every single shift. I can tell who it is usually based on their clothes or where the call is at. Half of EMS here is doing police work and I'm sure it's like that almost everywhere.

    EMSA OKLAHOMA to SEATTLE

Hey everyone. I know there is a ton of Seattle EMS posts and I've found some good advice in them but none answering just quite what I'm looking for. I am planning on MAYBE moving back home to Seattle to work after being here in Oklahoma working for EMSA the past few years. Can anyone...

    Light or No Lights?

I agree. Working at an ALS service that goes emergent (L&S) to every call, with little to no accidents, and being one of the busiest systems in the world, tells me our medics are driving correctly. If it's an issue in your service then people need to either be trained or move to an IFT service...

    Light or No Lights?

Exactly, I imagine it is a huge relief. We read it on their faces every day when they see us walk through the door, and usually thanking us for a quick response.

    Light or No Lights?

Very well put. I agree 100%.

    Light or No Lights?

I can understand that over all it may not change patient outcome but there is still a great handful of calls that would've had a much worse outcome if we had gotten there by 24:59 vs 8:59. And if there is that fair of an amount of chance the patients fast response and care shouldn't have to...

Ok, EMSA are these guys a good company?

Welcome. I'm originally from Seattle. But Tulsa does grow on you. I love this city. Working for EMSA helps, haha
