    ABD pads in Prehospital Trauma?

Exactly the reasons for my question. Thanks for the input.

    ABD pads in Prehospital Trauma?

Having found the search function to be fruitless due to the shortness of my term, here's a question. In all my penetrating trauma experience I've used either 4x4's (whether few or stacked) or a multitrauma pad (hemostatic packing aside). I confess I have never understood the purpose of ABD...

What do you carry? - The mega thread

One set of shears only, if I remember them. A two cell Surefire barely bigger than my middle finger... really. I have carried Surefires ever since I started winning them a number of years ago (as a non EMS certified FF in addition to an EMT, as well as on my own time, after dark). I've found...

Is that in response to my post? The only thing visible on me is a Leatherman. Not sure what's lulzy.

    Best Pants and Boots?

Pants & Boots Been awhile since I logged on. Pants: Cannot say enough about the TruSpec navy blue ripstop 24/7 pants. The wear and tear is almost imperceptible... I have worn out polo after polo without having to replace these pants. Even the invisible slot hip pockets take a Surefire on...

    Advanced wilderness life support?

You could argue it, but it would be incorrect. VHFs, for example, have no known toxins associated with them; they're purely infectious replicators. I can PM you the definitive reference on the subject that I co-authored and just came out in a new edition (and my predominant training is...

    Advanced wilderness life support?

Summit's signature The only 2 acute pathologies are trauma and toxins. The rest of the modern pathology requires years and decades to create an acute event; if possible to manage or reverse, it takes years. I just noticed the above. The originator of that statement must have never...

Actually, yes to this. I write and submit new questions every year for admissions and board examinations. There's quite an art to it that I never appreciated as a student. Very perceptive of you.

Log in to NREMT.org with your username and password. On the left column, click "Check Initial Entry App Status". If you see nothing different, it's still in process. You will know if you passed because when you login and check, there will be a "congratulations" and when you hit "my...

That is cute, psychometrician. I have taken an NREMT exam exactly once, therefore I am not an expert on it. I'm done with it and it is not my profession, so I frankly don't care how NR continues to conduct their business. It is how I serve my all volunteer community, on my own time. My...

Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

I'll try and restate it. I'm looking at this from the perspective of a prior civil service metro FFPM, and also someone with a conventional academic and professional background... where "pass / fail" is simply not an option. Where the next chance to take a professional certification exam is in...

Good for you to listen to yourself- your own requirements for success- and good luck! FYI, I have OCD and they put one of the worst possible targets next to me in the exam room. Tough focus there.

Help! ASAP! At DMV now. Q about box on Medical Examiner's Cert

OMG California. Do you ever cease to find things to regulate (and tax). Reno is an awesome place to live... just sayin'. In Texas we had to have Class B coming out of the fire academy because of the weight category only- not for emergency purposes. And it consisted of getting checked off...

Post the # your test stopped at, and if you Passed/Failed

This actually is a pretty relevant point. The point being, who cares how long it took you, which is why I threw my first post out to begin with. The thread asks 1) how many questions and 2) did you pass. Why does anyone care what your time was? They took my watch from me before I entered...

Thanks. I had forgotten what tests are like, must be PTSD. Seriously though, 70 questions in 15 minutes of the type that I saw. And I have plenty of prior exposure outside of the "state class"; which is only saying that the exam material is a pretty familiar topic for me.

Yeah, I would bet it was no more than 45 minutes, but it seemed like longer. There is no preparation to simply walk in a breeze the entire test. Those of you who flew through, you got questions wrong. Not enough to fail, but don't fool yourself into thinking you aced it. Lots of ambiguous...
