I'm not a big fan of them. Working a code or a trauma can be very difficult. Even With a box I feel that if you don't have a center mounted stretcher if can be a pain.

rYears ago when I started my first job was for a bls c tompany. I had a similar issue with my first FTO. Yrs later I was working for a near by company. I was in charge for a tour and we had a bad house fire. Long story short that same FTO came in for mutual aid. And boy he was a dear in the head...

I don't think it negligence its more of a moral obligation. What you could have done and should have done is this. Once you where flagged down notify your dispatch. One EMT stays with the PT (permitting your patient is non emergency) in the back. The other can go to assist while their is...
