I believe most ems providers are aware of the NEXUS criteria. Now looking at the criteria, the presence of an altered mental status -or- inability to communicate -or- intoxication, is listed as indicators for spinal immobilization.
With that said, to my knowledge, I am under the impression...
If anyone has any stories they want to share about vent. transports, and problems encountered during the course of transport, post up and lets hear about it.
Malfunctons? Vent. Setting Problems? Known limits/issues of particular vents?
I am curious about this company. Does anyone know anything about it?
It looks like they do ALS and Critical Care Interfacility transports.

I became a Florida Paramedic in 2010 through an accredited Paramedic Program.
I now want to become a NR Paramedic. It's been 3 1/2 yrs since I finished school. I obviously have to take a refresher class first. Are there any approved ones totally online? And does this transition phase currently...

Most commonly I have seen it in head injuries, but have heard about it happening in other situations as well.
Can a nursing home, nurse, refuse care for a patient (sign the refusal) with dementia A/Ox0 that fell out of bed causing a skin tear on his left leg, without contacting the family or power of attorney?
Or is it not defensible in court when the family finds out later about a spine injury that...
This is a new program, it looks like it could be better than UMBC's CCEMT-P.
What do you guys think?
http://www.bcn.ufl.edu/dcp2_ccp/curriculum.shtml
It is good for 4yrs instead of only 3yrs with UMBC.
It seems to have more hours.
Isn't this a potential liability? Having someone with training that is less than the determinined level of care that was decided upon by a paramedic write an ALS report? I know of an als dept that routinely has emts write als refusals, syncopal episode, chest pain, diabetic. How can an emt know...

Does anyone keep their EMT certs. after they have become a paramedic as a means of job security? I have heard other paramedics cite that the reason they keep their EMT cert. up to date is for if they have a bad day and screw up a patient, and their department/agency doesnt want them working as a...
It seems like when it comes to treatment and management of hazmat patients there is lacking of standardization of training and certification of ALS providers to ensure appropriate knowledge base. It appears that this may be a hole in the system in that paramedic classes (which are suppost to be...
