So it is the time of year that we are getting our permit renewed. Looking through the state provided checklist, they are requiring that we have a First Aid kit on the unit.
Does anybody actually have a First Aid kit on their ambulance? It seems to me that the ambulance is a First Aid kit...
So let me ask....does anybody else hate the "patented slash pockets" that 5.11's have? I find that most everything falls out of my pockets when I sit down for dinner or in the reclinder. I also have found that they fade crazy fast (yes, I wash them in cold water turned inside out and dry them...
Good Evening. So I cracked open one of my Vacuum splints today and noticed that the tube on one of them was broke off. Someone mentioned that we should look in to an alternative splinting solution (besides the vacuum splints).
One recommendation that I was given was the Ferno Pro Splints...
I did an EMS standby tonight for a local college that was doing a fundraiser for the march of dimes. We volunteered our services to stand there and wait for them to get hurt and the person on the stage was urging people to go buy T-Shirts to donate to the cause. She looked over at the EMS crew...
*#(&@&^$ Girl Scout Cookies!!!!
OMG I am so disliking girl scouts right now!! Why do they have to sell awesome cookies that are like crack?! I have 7 boxes sitting under my desk that I bought from a co-worker's daugher! I have knocked out almost a box of tagalongs. My weakness... I...
$2?! Let me guess, you drive a hummer? Hopefully you dont drive a hybrid but live 100 miles away from the store. That would suck and I would apologize!
I would say the usual "It's the thought that counts" but one thought out weighs the other. Which one wins? The good thought or the evil thought?
BTW, I am still at work so no dinner for me, so I have moved on to reeses pb cups! My personal fav...
Oh, and if I am here much longer, I am...
Has anybody realised that Cheetos are one of those things that you never really crave but when you do have them, they are awesome?
Oh, and a good thing about not working at an agency full time is that I work for a company that has an alcohol policy that simply states that you can not abuse...
Can we do this in real life? I would love to see a few certain rural EMTs seperate from the urban side of things!
And no, not ALL rural folk...just a couple.
Of course not. I think they are very sophisticated. I personally think the 4" john deere belt matches our duty uniforms just fine... I also think the trash can is the perfect thing to use as a dip cup. Man I love taking out the trash and having someone's dip come falling out of the can or...
I live in a unique 1st due. We have cows and mcmansions now. If you go 5 miles east, you run in to more mcmansions... 10 miles east and you are on a road lined with stores surrounded by the ghetto. Now if you go out west, OMG the mountain folk scare me; thankfully, they do not call us much...
Redneck Newbie EMT's are quite the fascinating specie. Our 1st due consists of many wealthy mcmansion dwellers. I am curious to witness how their level of pt. care is going to turn out!
Oh, on a side note (which apparently is not possible in this thread): I was promoted to sgt. at my...
Good Morning all and Happy New years! This might be an off topic thread and I apologize ahead of time if it is.
I was wondering if anybody here is in charge of their IT dept. or management within their station. If so, I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for software for...
My favourite was a call for a "Public Service" which consisted of a 70yr old woman who weighed about 500lbs fell off the toilet and pinned herself between the toilet and the bath tub in front of her. We show up and there she is, legs wrapped around the toilet and the side of her face against...
csly, To be honest, I have only done one triage simulation; my EMT class did not heavily stress on it for some reason.
My understanding is that poor judgement on the triager (not sure if that is an actual word) could cause a deterioration of the patient. My hope is that another triager will...
I am sure there wont be an issue with getting people who are willing... It just becomes more exciting to be all dolled up with lacerations and avulsions.
I will definitely take the indoor scenario in to mind (maybe write up 2 separate scenarios and depending on the weather or crew turnout, we...
Sapphyre, I am located in Northern VA (Outside of DC). I chose Amtrak because we have them out here and I used to be a consultant assigned to them.
Thanks for your feedback!
