    Fast track Paramedic school?

EMT's in Canada are almost the equivalent to US paramedics. Canada has way higher standards and training (and triple the cost).

    should she give up

Thanks for the info. Tigger - I didn't realize that there were some places that accepted 16 - that's awesome!

    should she give up

How the heck do you get to be an EMT at 16 years of age? Part of the issue might have been taught wrong from the beginning and now can't seem to get 'into' higher level learning. As a mother, I would say if this was a situation I was faced with, I would be advising that this probably isn't the...

Do you have to pay the fees before taking the NREMT test?

Yes, the fee must be paid before you can schedule testing. Make sure you know the date you want to schedule, cancellations can cost you and not sure on reschedules - might be a fee too.

    Free CEU

Darn it Boundtree isn't recognized as one of the provider's for San Diego County! I supposed it wouldn't hurt to have the course, whether or not it's counted as a CEU, may look good on the resume. VO

Asking God for helping hand or medic (Utah)

I'm saying a whole bunch of prayers for a good recovery for this medic. (title should have said 'for' not 'or medic') http://www.ems1.com/safety/articles/1298542-Minivan-rolls-over-Utah-medic/ VO

    Free CEU

Thanks baldie :) I snooped around their site and I think I'm going to throw this option at my son and let him know that taking some of these courses certainly won't hurt. He has time on his hands while waiting to be gainfully employed, why not put his big brain to use! VO

    Free CEU

When to take CEU's Is there a required time that CEU's must be taken? Reason I ask is that son just rec'd national registration NREMT and is actively searching for jobs in SoCal. Would it be beneficial for him to take a couple CEU courses now as an added perk on his application/resume? VO

    Am I over protective/over reacting?

SoCal jobs Thanks! I'm pretty proud of him! There's always a rush of applicants, I'm glad he has a couple 'trump cards' to play so hopefully that will set him apart. We can only hope.... VO

    Am I over protective/over reacting?

I just re-read this from EMT-John Quote: It's all about desitions you make. If he desides to burn his rep and crareer by giving someone drugs at a young age now then who to say he's not going to make another stupid desition later in life in a pinch. Just to set the record straight, my son...

    Am I over protective/over reacting?

You're absolutely correct. There is no problems, no issues - but it wasn't that way in the beginning. And watching him hesitate 3-4 months ago in walking away from loser friends really made me wonder if this was where he really wanted to be. It took a couple situations that he saw from his...

    Am I over protective/over reacting?

He's worked Hard...and learned lessons. Thanks for the vote of confidence that maybe I played a little part in this. He has also been unintentionally groomed for medical, even though I didn't realize this is what i was doing as i taught him respect people and their feelings, no matter how...

    Ambulance vs Snowplow - YIKES!

Everyone is OK - it's the material 'things' that aren't. Life much more important than things and this is what insurance is for. Pavehawk - a snowplow is a large truck (gravel truck size) with blades off each side on the front to clear roads in snowy areas. When they are plowing, visibility...

"Repost this if You Love, Know, or Respect EMT's and Paramedics"

In my Words ...EMS In my world, I see EMS as a vital link to society. I don't see you as 'heros' - and I certainly do not expect you to try to be one. I see you as people who have special abilities and talents, tolerances that most people do not have. For that, it makes every EMS Person...

    Medics Drop Donor Heart

Toyota Delivers Heart I just watched an episode of Trauma: Life in the ER (can't remember the name of the epi), but kid died from MVA during his quick run from the police. His family decided on organ donation and they transported it in the back of a Toyota truck. My first thought was 'damn...
