    Assessment

I do miss that option of a metro area. Now I only have a critical care access hospital, with higher level of care 100 miles away.

I was fallowing a semi-truck when two tires came off the trailer on the freeway. One crossed the median and almost hit a car and thankfully the other one went into the ditch. It's incredible how far they went with the truck doing 70 mph.

    Hennepin and Allina EMS

I worked for Allina for 27 years. Retired 4 years ago from them so I am sure there are some changes. They are a large system that covers inner city suburbs to very rural areas. The have multiple regions that have their own pluses and minuses. In the beginning you would probably be sent to a...

    Minneapolis EMS agencies

Here's an update about wages in the Minneapolis area. Hennepin EMS will now take into consideration years of service in EMS instead of starting you at the bottom. They also had a large raise. Other services in the area are also increasing wages. If I was still working in the area, I would be...

    How many hours a week?

I retired from my career job six months ago. I worked 40 hours a week there and a part time job 12 hours a week. I am debt free and have a decent retirement. I plan to work a couple more years as a paramedic for the health insurance at a rural hospital based ambulance service. I think it's...

Retired from my medic job that I worked at for over 32 years. Still going to work for the service that is close to home for a couple of more years. I hope I do not drive my wife crazy being home more. There has been a bunch of retirements this year with more coming in the near future.

    Minnesota EMS

They are a good company over all. They pay well, have good equipment. Not very aggressive protocols with no RSI, or long list of medications. Medical director bases his protocols of scientific data. He is open to new protocols if you do the work to convince him. They are a medic/medic or...
