Cant..have a cdl a but i was fired by ups when i was 20-21 years old. They wont take me back. Not to mention id have to start all over again as a handler....im 28 years old not 19 anymore.

Phillly pd and nypd. I really wanted to be an nypd detective one day. :( Took me 7 years to get an associates degree to be eligible and was jacked and ready to go (320 lbs bench, 600 deadlift, 405 pound squats, etc.) When they said no...it all unravelled. Now i have a useless associates degree...

Maybe im just jumping the gun. Always wanted to be a cop...but couldnt get hired. Thats how i got into ems. Double the gore half the pay :(

Lol...i only say this because ive been on the job 3 weeks doing transport and dont no anything. If i knew what i was doing...it wouldnt be so bad...but that takes time. Just sucks starting over - people looking at you like ur incompentant becaus u have no experience.

And i never said i didnt care. I do transport now as an emt and im finishing up prereqs for medic too. Cant beat 3 day work week tho...

Its possible. Unless i get a nice 3 12x shift career making 70-80k a year with a pension. A,man can dream right?

I have never worked out there but im curious to know...considering their basic education. Do they do much? Or are they just support and drivers of the ambulance?!?!

So i just realized the FDNY ems has a July test this year rather than september. Problem is im only certfied in the state of PA. Test is up on july 26th and says "must have nyc doh emt cert by end of application test date" Is it too late or would they accept a nremt pa cert??? Im gonna call...

Idk man...i dont work for fdny ems but i did the math and ONE shift a week of OT at 59000 a year should put you in the 70's...two shifts which is really in 16 hours extra a week should have tou close to six figures. Add shift differntial and meal money, is the job as bad as everyone really...

Im intrested in this too...can a FDNY medic break 6 figures on the year?
