This is bothering me

No but I'm confused because others were talking about putting them on, then taking them off. I was taught that we had to leave all equipment in place for the ME. And wouldn't the ME not like bits of skin missing from the corpse? I really am curious, as I'm not going to be looking for paid...

    This is bothering me

Oh, I'm not scared of decomposing bodies - it just seems kind of unsanitary if you put stickers on and end up taking some skin with you when you take them off. Or would you leave the stickers in that case?

    This is bothering me

OK, so I have to ask... what if the person is so dead that they are getting...gooey. I wouldn't want to be putting stickers on and taking them off of /that/. (Maybe it's different in other areas, but around here the SOP for finding a rotting relative seems to be to call for an ambulance, not...

For the Women Paramedics...unless guys wear sports bra's

Ha ha, I tried horse shampoo before it was popular! But that was mostly because I was at the barn and needed to clean up before going into town, so I jumped in the washrack with my horse's stuff, heh. Oh, and I was 12. It didn't work so great for me either. Left too much residue. I used head...

For the Women Paramedics...unless guys wear sports bra's

I did notice a big jump in controlability when I started shopping in the "Ethnic Haircare" section of the drug store. For shampoo and conditioner, I now use the olive oil stuff, and that's cut down on the chemical smell /a lot/, but I still get fly aways.

For the Women Paramedics...unless guys wear sports bra's

Ha ha, here's what I look like when I use heat on my hair: I don't know how the pt would feel seeing that coming at him. Right now I've just been braiding it after my shower, and it stays OK, but without the gel the hairs up top kind of fly away. I don't really want them getting onto/into...

For the Women Paramedics...unless guys wear sports bra's

Because this is the ladies issues thread, apparently, I'm going to ask - does anyone have hair gel recommendations? I have very curly (OK, so it's more, "outrageous untamed jungle") hair, and need to keep it under control, but I haven't found any that don't have a strong "hair product" smell. I...

    'Jigsaw Kid' Defies Grim Prognosis

What about the chest compressions? I guess the family would only need to call EMS for foreign body obstruction if the marble or whatever was REALLY far down there, this is their kid, so they've probably practiced abd thrusts more than we have.

    'Jigsaw Kid' Defies Grim Prognosis

Huh. I suppose you would have to figure out how to position the defib pads so that they were in the correct position. Wouldn't the reason for the cardiac arrest determine where you give compressions? I mean, if she's down because of a foreign body obstruction, you'd just give them normally until...

Germany: Rescue Helicopter burnt out / Oxygen bottle in Ambulance blew up

Ha ha, I love how German has a specific word for something that takes an entire sentence to express in English.

    Suicidal jumper pushed off bridge

Have you guys seen the video? That old dude is spry. He pushed him right infront of a firefighter on a cherrypicker too. You could tell the ff was like "DUDE, WHAT THE HELL"

Obese Woman Dragged From Home, Hauled Away After Death

I was thinking about what we would do out here in the boonies if we had this situation - I think a (clean!) horse trailer, with the body wrapped in a proper manner by a tarp (not some dirty carpet) would probably be the best way we have to transport the body to the ME. Though I'm also...

Obese Woman Dragged From Home, Hauled Away After Death

Would the private ambulances even be able to take the person? They would have to charge her family, and have no way of getting reimbursed. I doubt insurance or Medicare would pay for the removal of a body.

Obese Woman Dragged From Home, Hauled Away After Death

http://www.theindychannel.com/news/19517549/detail.html My question is- in the article, a person from the coroner's office says, "He said that fire and medical personnel have equipment available for handling patients up to 1,000 pounds and that moving obese individuals is not all that rare...

    Was it an MI?

Just jumping in to give a personal anecdote about this from when I was a patient - I went to the ER for pericarditis my senior year of college, and the doc gave me a nitro patch - helped the pain and I went to sleep like a baby (I hadn't been able to sleep for 2 days b/c of the pain). So, yeah...

EMT loses job for posting picture of murder victim on his Facebook page

Hey, I'll admit that rotten.com is one of my favorite websites, and car crash photos were (a very small) part of what motivated me to get into emergency services. That being said, I refuse to even touch the cameras we have in our rigs. (I have an art degree, and find drawing diagrams way...
