    Gun Porn

@Old Tracker thanks man. I used my carry gun (Glock 19) for a few years but I started getting serious (which doesn't mean any better) about IDPA so I switched to a full size. @StCEMT It's a nice gun. I'm fairly disappointed at the price of the kits. Not sure if I'm gonna keep it or not. It...

    Gun Porn

I'm having the damnedest time getting photobucket to work right now so I can only get this one picture. Here's my IDPA/USPSA (SSP and Production respectively) setup. Sig P320 full size, Comp-tac International Holster and Comp-tac pouches, Original SOE belt. @doc68w where do you go in FL? I shoot...

    Can you downgrade to BLS?

My company says yes. When I was an EMT I worked with a medic who would downgrade anything that didn't require a monitor (that was his rule) which was pretty annoying. I've heard from friends who work at the Fire Depts in my area that they cannot downgrade. But that's second hand stuff so take it...

    Glasses vs. Contacts

Contacts most of the time, but I have a pair of glasses I always bring with me in case the contacts start bothering me, or if I work more than 14 hours I like to rest my eyes a little. I've thought about trying prescription sunglasses/eye pro for awhile, but they cost so much and I'm so very cheap.

    Plans for the weekend?

Went to a Salsa social (The dance, not the delicious topping for chips).

Lost a friend trying to reach my goal. Need advice

"The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become." - Charles Du Bos (although I heard it from Eric Thomas before I knew where it was from). It can be very hard when a friend gives you an ultimatum like that. You have to decide what's more...

    Challenging CNA exam FL

Just one hoop as I see it, but yeah if I can cut a semester out and not lose any major information I'm all for it. I've got everything else done so this is the last hurdle so to speak. I wouldn't mind getting a job as a Tech at a hospital to get some experience and when I get back I may try to...

    Challenging CNA exam FL

I'm aware there's no shortage of nursing forums, but I was curious if anyone here had experience in this matter. Long story short, my best plan for starting a PMD to RN bridge program in a timely manner is getting my CNA license. According to the current law I can challenge the exam. I don't...

    Paramedic certificate or degree

If you have the ability and opportunity to go straight for your BSN, I recommend doing that. It's simpler in the long run. As someone who's doing the EMT/Paramedic to RN route, I can tell you it's not the most efficient use of time. I had some somewhat unique life situations that made it the...

    Paramedic/Associates of Applied Science.

Like STX said, two Associate don't make a Bachelors. Especially for something like a Bach. of Science in Nursing where the graduate level classes are (as I understand it) pretty specific to the job. So after you bridge from Paramedic to RN, you'll have to work on completing your BSN. But by the...

    EMT advice on jobs

Apply everywhere and take what you can get. Once you get a little experience you can afford to be more selective.

    Are Private ambulance really EMS?

As other people have said, there's private services that are the sole provider of 911 services. Some that work right along side or in support of government agencies. And yes some that shuttle people back and forth from different facilities. Working in inter-facility you can see some incredibly...

    Stress

Trying to live my life away from the ambulance to the fullest. I exercise, take my kids to the park, I'm pretty serious about competition shooting. Even though it adds it's own stresses, being in the National Guard is a stress relief for me. Getting out in the woods for a weekend, burning off...

What does your significant other do?

These days she's a stay at home mom. She used to work in food service for a major company. Loved the work, hated the way she got treated (she was salary and work 60+ hours a week). She's also extremely squeamish so I can't talk to her about pretty much anything that happens at work. Makes it a...

    Whats your caffeine of choice?

Wawa house blend coffee with french vanilla creamer! Call me brainwashed but I think it tastes the best from the store. When I'm playing Soldier though I'm much less specific, and will usually drink anything that's heavily caffeinated.

    sport for fitness

I don't think there's a silver bullet 'sport' that can cover all bases. I enjoy doing Taekwondo, but I think you could get the same benefit from most martial arts. The focus on flexibility and core strength in many martial arts can be applied to many other areas. And by no means are martial arts...
