    SD EMS wage protest.

I worked in this system as both a BLS emt and a ALS medic. Even though I was a medic I had to work BLS for a few months until a spot opened up for field training. You work 7 12hr shifts in two weeks. So 4 shifts one week and 3 the next. Each car except for the float units has a day and night...

    Rural/Metro San Diego

They use a shift bid system based on seniority.. most shifts are 12s with few 24hour shifts. 24 hour shifts are more coveted so you will probably be stuck with 2nd half nights on a busy unit you build up seniority. Will you keep your pay? SD RM medics are not paid well.

    Rural Metro San Diego

Most medics are hired as emts and make Emt starting wages. Once you finished field training and get signed off you make around 13 an hour. Depends on the crew but most box medics assume control of the pt once turn over is given on scene.

    CARE Ambulance San Diego

I worked there for about a year and quit about a year ago. I quit right when they were doing the transition from 10s to 8s. I know now you need to work five 8hr shifts, if they still did 10s I would be back there. During the orientation they let you know open shifts and you pick what available...
