    Spinal cord injury symptom name

What is the symptom related with a spinal cord injury/trauma that causes one sided discoloration in the body? Not neurogenic shock where there is discoloration starts at the injury side, but is split sagittal. Also, in neurogenic shock, is there pink skin above or below the injury site? Pale skin?

    Amidarone ?

    1) In a full arrest, per PALS, the amiodarone does is 5mg/kg, with max 15mg/kg. Does that mean there's going to be 3 doses of Amio? Because for adults it's only two does, with 300mg then 150mg, but for PALS its going to be 3 doses of the same dose? Just clarifying. I know Amio is an...

    IFT paramedics

I have a question thats non-related. If you were to run a trauma call, but figured that it was a medical that caused the trauma, do you go to a trauma center or an appropriate facility (cva, MI, )

    IFT paramedics

How is working IFT ALS like? Is it just like IFT BLS but with ALS equiptment? Such as lines, meds, monitoring? Do IFT medics respond to emergencies? Code 2/Code 3? I heard stories of IFT medics losing a big chuck of their knowledge due to not practicing paramedicine to their highest potential...

    Adenosine in WPW

Just have some questions: 1) Why won't you want to give adenosine to someone with Afib with RVR? Is it because Adenosine only slows down electrical conduction through AV node, and since A-fib has more foci than AV node, it'll stop conduction through AV node but theres more conduction pathways...

    Tunnel vision

During labs, we always do scenarios. I'm sure most, if not all programs do this. Whenever it's my turn to run a scenario, I'll always get tunnel vision. I mean, I know our specific protocols and procedures, but whenever I'm in charge, I feel like I'm not as much in control as I'd like to be. I...

    IFT BLS EMT

Learn what you can. I worked IFT for three years and still am, and I can honesty say that I probably am a better EMT from being in months of medic school than three years of IFT. I'm also the type that'll learn from books and classroom time rather than being in the field :( But I did however...

Medics, what was the hardest part about transitioning from EMT to medic?

I'm in the process of becoming a paramedic, and for me personally, I feel like it's two different philosophies even though it's the same line of work. From experience, being an EMT you do things by higher certifications (EMT-P, RN, LVN, etc.) order or protocol. And what I was learning in school...

    Status epilepticus

If you feel like you can't do something effectively, you just have to do the best you can. I might consider c-spine precautions if they hit their head or injured themselves, and prevent them from hitting their head on the ground. Possibly provide cushion like a blanket or pillow between their...

Sorry to burst in here but quick relation question: can you intubate someone who is breathing? Maybe no gag reflex, but had the breathing drive; shallow or going into respiratory failure (but still breathing)

Pain medication and when not to give it

We haven't really gone over pain management in class yet, but I was wondering yes you give morphine for pain, but when do you Not use it? I know it'll drop you BP so you can't give it to someone who's hypotensive, So in theory, if someone is in extreme pain, but is hypotensive and/or showing...

    Cardiac arrhythmias help?
