For the most part, shifts are Medic/EMT, there are a few Medic/Medic day shifts due to overlapping schedules.

    Fluid Resuscitation in Sepsis

Off topic, but Wilco already runs a single medic squad and will be staring a second one. The current squad is on a rotation with a busy station since the call volume is so low where they are located. ...back to the sepsis talk.

    AMR Santa Barbara

I left there last October, but I'm pretty sure all of this information is still fairly accurate. Santa Barbara is a great operation to work for, good mix of calls, operating areas, and I never held the wall longer than 20 minutes. If there are hiring Medic sand your current operation will...

When does Los Angeles county bids renew???

Just call them what they are: "stretcher fetchers."

Where is the best EMS system?

There's no such thing as a perfect system, but there are certainly more positives than negatives at Wilco. In terms of patient care, our medical director likes to be as close to the cutting edge as possible. We are given a large scope of care, but in return a high degree of competency is...

Where is the best EMS system?

Williamson County EMS. In terms of progressive scope and evidence based medicine, it doesn't get much better. Great pay and retirement doesn't hurt either.

    Progressive EMS states

Everything's bigger (like your scope of practice) in Texas.

Ambulnz Health, LLC (Los Angeles County)

Can't wait to see all the transfer services scatter like roaches if OIG comes in and requires pre-authorization for transports and actually looks what kind of PTs they are transporting.

Paramedic for McCormick LA County or AMR Riverside?

If you're a paramedic, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T BE A GURNEY JOCKEY AT MCCORMICK. Also, AMR Santa Barbara is taking apps, good division, great pay, way more scenic that the valley of the dirt people AKA Bakersfield and mostly BLS fire (the ALS departments don't do much any ways).

    CPAP - Frequency of Use

Most disposal CPAP systems only go up to 10mmH2O, just some people forget to increase it from the lowest setting. It all depends on what CPAP you are using, some are adjustable and others are set to a fixed pressure.

    CPAP - Frequency of Use

As a medic (sorry, not a tip the OP could use as a basic), we give a small dose of ketamine (25mg IV or 50mg IM) to help calm down the PT without knocking out their respiratory drive, which is a pesky side effect of using benzos for the same purpose. Also, don't be afraid to increase PEEP if you...

    Remove Bystander-Applied Tourniquet?

If it was truly "unnecessary," I would remove it and describe why you did it in your PCR. You don't typically have to worry about crush injury with TQ application until it's been on for a long period of time. If you do remove it, it should go without saying that you should be ready to reapply a...

    AMR Hiring(Socal)

If you aren't familiar with the way LA county is run, if you aren't a firefighter/paramedic, you are a gurney jockey. Period. Even if you have your P-Card. If you want to function as a paramedic you're going to have to look outside of LA/OC. AMR has great 911 operations in Ventura and Santa...
