    Minneapolis Area CE?

Check with HealthEast Medical Transport. They have an EMS academy and put on several different CEU events. http://www.healtheast.org/transportation/ems-education.html

Moving from Colorado to the D.C. area

I don't know much about DC or VA, but I can help a bit with Maryland. In order to obtain your Maryland EMT card you must first affiliate with an agency. This can be done by either volunteering with one of the county fire departments or getting hired by one of the county fire departments as a...

    Paramedic Question

Yes you can enroll in the class and go through without taking the licensing exams. It usually takes around 2 years with clinicals. Just an FYI, you won't be able to legally use these skills on the public with the exception of CPR and basic first aid. If you come across a car accident and...

    Paramedic Question

You could read the books? Why exactly do you want to know the skills if you don't want to practice? You won't be able to use any of the skills outside of basic first aid unless you are affiliated with an agency and work under a medical director. You can't exactly be a "lone gun" so to speak...

    Maryland/Delaware EMS ?!

I wouldn't say it's easier, but the reciprocity is straight forward from what I understand. n7xli know's the system well and can explain it better. I would also look at Virginia if you're interested in going fire as well. Fairfax is a top notch system with great benefits and schedule.

    Paramedic side jobs

I'm not aware of any private urgent care facilities that hire paramedics. When I was working in DSM, all the hospitals in the area hired paramedics to work in the ERs. Have you checked with the local hospitals? I would definitely check with all the small county hospitals in your area. Most...

    Maryland/Delaware EMS ?!

Just a little more info to add to what Jon said All 911 EMS in Maryland is run by the counties. The private EMS in MD handle all the IFT. Most of the counties are combination FF/PM departments. They go through the standard FD hiring process. The exceptions to this are a few counties that have...

    cant pass the nremt-b

On scenario based questions, are you following things in the correct order? BSI, SS, all that stuff? One mistake I've noticed with people is they immediately jump to interventions. When you read the question, make sure all the steps are taken care of. Example: You arrive on scene for some guy...

Did you work while in paramedic training?

Yup, class M, W, F 8-4, and I had clinicals scattered all over the place. I worked night shift 2300-0700. I would work atleast 3-4 shifts a week. Like others said, you won't have a life, and it all boils down to time management.

    Your first code

Maryland. I got the exact speech from a few other people. I felt it was better to get the patient to definitive care then BS on scene waiting for ALS. We were driving past the red lobster when we got detailed on the call. He was lucky.

Where can an EMT-B get a job in Georgia?

Last I checked you must be an EMT-I or P to work on an ambulance in GA. There are very few, if any places that utilize basics.

    Your first code

I was the Senior EMT on a volly BLS unit. This time I brought 2 rookies with me. I usually never let more then 1 ride with me. This time it worked in my favor. We were en route to a welfare check when we were rerouted to red lobster for a code. On arrival we found the guy laying on the ground...

    Cores

CORE = Cardiac Or Respiratory Event. I think it's a generalized dispatch term for a cardiac/respiratory arrest. Some one on here used it a while ago, I believe he/she was from Colorado.

Really scared of my course final exams

So learn from your mistakes, and take it again. Identify your problem areas and focus in on them. No sense in studying 4 hours of trauma when you get high scores on trauma. The NREMT exam isn't exactly difficult, many many many people have passed it. On knowledge based questions try...
