US Paramedic registering with the HCPC in UK

Hey RichF, I know this is a bit late, but I've completed the US to UK transition about 6 months ago. It took me around 14 months total, but that included information gathering and requesting paperwork and records from my school and previous employers. Once you have all your paperwork and your...

    Maryland Private ALS Services

There are no private 911 services in MD, all 911 is handled by either fire or 3rd service. The only private "911" service would be Riderwood village. They run an ALS ambulance most days. You need to have MD Paramedic though, they won't sponsor you for your license.

HELP ASAP Health Specialist at Jail

Agreed that county jail is a whole different game from prison. I work at a county jail and most of the guys and girls here just want to get in and get out. Rarely do we have people stay longer then 24-48 hrs. A few may be in for a couple days or a few weeks but that's it. I have my share of...

HELP ASAP Health Specialist at Jail

When you go in for your interview they should tell you what your job responsibilities are. More then likely it will be a lot of vitals and passing out meds. My company uses EMT-Bs to pass meds mostly. Paramedics are responsible for intake physicals and responding to emergencies within the...

HELP ASAP Health Specialist at Jail

Just remember that patient care is patient care. It doesn't matter if they're in an ambulance or a jail. Don't look at them as prisoners, look at them as patients. These were all points I brought up at my interview and I did well.

    Des Moines, IA

Oh MWA.... I spent 6 months working for them as a full time PS. They run 4 trucks out of DSM. 2 of them are 24 hour shifts, and the other 2 are 8-10 hour shifts. Ginnell runs 2 trucks, and I left before they took over Jeffereson County ops. You'll most likely end up on a 24 hour truck. 60%...

    Experience with reciprocity

I looked into Michigan and it's not that bad if you have NR-P. Not to sure about Tennessee.

    Experience with reciprocity

Having NR-P will make transitioning 100 times easier. Do you have an idea of where you'd like to end up? Some states like MD are a pain in the ***, and others like Minnesota and Iowa are very straight forward.

    work for AMR in Montana?

Just heard back, pay is 11/hr, which is kinda tough to live on in Bozeman. Shifts are 12s, but its really slow. He said Billings might be a bit better, but he's not sure.

    work for AMR in Montana?

I may try to head to Ada county after I finish my BS. I like the look of the service and love Idaho. I emailed my friend and asked him about living there as well as shifts. Hopefully he has more information.

    work for AMR in Montana?

A friend of mine used to live there, and he went back and interviewed with them for a medic position. IIRC he was quoted 11-12/hr, with benefits. Not to sure what they had to offer as far as shifts but I'll shoot him a message and see what he says. He said he would probably have to supplement...

Will this help boost my resume? Help!

It will. Just emphasize working with customers, helping them solve their problems, and any other customer service skills you can think of.

    50,000+ pop w/ volunteer services

Prince Georges County Fire Dept in Maryland is a career department that is supplemented very heavily by volunteers. Their population is around 870,000. Some of the stations are 100% volly while some have 9-5 career staff, and others have 24/7 career staff.

Will this help boost my resume? Help!

It might help, but honestly the biggest plus to your resume will be any customer service experience. I worked at old navy for a couple years before my EMS career, and even 7 years later I still have employers ask about the customer service skills I learned there. EMS is 5% medicine, and 95%...

You work in MN? (MSP area if possible?)

Have you tried HealthEast? They're very education oriented. Another option if you don't mind the drive would be Mayo Clinic Gold Cross. It's about 1.5 hrs from you, but they also have ops in Austin, Owatonna, and a few other small towns.

    Psychomotor Exam

Try contacting your local or state EMS authority. They should have a list of who is testing, and if not, should be able to point you in the right direction.

Speeding Ticket - I think I might have ruined things.

You can also try CHC. They provide medical support for the Metro prison. They don't really care about speeding tickets.
