does anyone have any experience with this book?

the extra effort will pay off for you as a medic and more importantly for your patients. Sometimes people in this field are threatened by knowledge. know the medic stuff inside and out which im sure you will and you'll do great just stay grounded for now.

does anyone have any experience with this book?

my own education/entertainment. my text for paramedic is relatively easy thus far. maybe that will change 2nd semester? I've been studying ahead.. THe text book is easy because most are written at the 10th grade level, I would caution getting more advanced books for the time being only...

Help!!! How do you remember all the drugs and dosages

The point is that there is a large difference between memorizing and knowing. things like indications side affects mechanisim of action.. require a higher level of knowledge.(memorization is the lowest form) for instance children learn to say their abc's well before they can read. Think of those...

I've got a hard decision to make...

First any education you can get someone else to pay for is a usually a pretty good idea. As for wanting to fly being an Rn with icu experience as well as a medic license is required in all programs around here with the exception of one. As for wanting to be a medic and work on the road you're...

    Trainers as "Little Napoleans"...your thoughts?

A boot camp style class has some value if you need to function in a group setting ie military fireground large scale incident where command structure is important and while we use some in ems most times its just a small crew. I dont see a whole lot of value in an ems setting

    helpful ways to memorize?

I don't recall all the percentages but you will learn the most when you can say do and teach a subject. study it yourself and teach a buddy or just give a presentation to your toaster and you will retain it far easier.

    A proper 12 lead would've done wonders.

There are plenty of so called "patch holders" in all areas of ems I'm sure we can all agree. It would be nice to see the 12 lead from the field and you said in the report the patient denied any cp? without the readable 12 lead ekg i cant say I would have done a whole lot different as in treat...

    Treatment of Trauma Crush Patients

I didn't mean to imply or infer that definitive treatments were not important considerations weather we can treat them or not. more education on any subject especially patho- phys of things we encounter is always a good idea. I just meant that in my experience (and its not rural) there are...

    Treatment of Trauma Crush Patients

I agree k.i.s.s. we can't treat trauma definitively in the field. Thats the surgeon's job. While acidosis compartment syndrome and myoglobin may be concerns they are probably not the most immeadiate life threat.and how do you know what the labs are? as far as sedation most meds drop bp"s (at...
