    Numb Extremity

That almost sounds like Guillan-Barre Syndrome. That's probably not what it was but, just throwing it out there.

New/paramedic to be biggest fears :s

I would have to agree that my current biggest fear is giving a medication I shouldn't have because of some obscure contraindication I overlooked. As far as peds go, it's usually the parents I get concerned about. They do not take very well to their kid being sick  When I was a new...

So I have a bad driving record...

Agreed, really. I'm sorry, but I don't think that any career in the healthcare field is for you -- at all. I realize that people make mistakes, so hopefully your mistakes will be a lesson to someone in the future. Think about your actions and the effect they will have on your life before you...

Scope of Practice for volunteer EMT?

Since one only know how to perform the skills that they have learned, logically it isn't possible to go beyond your scope of practice. I'm not sure about Michigan laws but I'm pretty sure that if you stick to what you've been trained to do, you're protected. If anything happens that requires an...

Drug Calculation Apps - Do you use them in the field?

I was taking a look at iphone apps that will do medical math for you in the field. Being not so great at math, and in medic school, I'm a little concerned about this aspect of the job. So I'm looking for opinions - do you use these apps or know anyone who does? How accurate are they? If you have...

    New here, hi!

All but one that I have this semester are great and I'm learning TONS. I hear that one of the second semester instructors is a real hard@ss, but at least I'll be suffering through it with the rest of my class. In the end, I think it'll be a better medic for it.

    New here, hi!

Haha I'm originally from NJ, where the minimum age for certification is 16. I came to school here in MA and that's where I've wound up staying

Questions about paramedic school. Also a question for Mass residents!

I'm currently in the medic program at Quinsigamond CC in Worcester. I'd have to say that so far, everything is great. I'm learning tons, the instructors are fantastic and really take the time to work with you and care about your success. It's a 3 semester program and they do offer an...

    Any Tips?

Be careful that the crew you're riding with doesn't try to playfully haze you :P Know what's in your truck. If someone sends you for a piece of equipment that you've never heard of, don't go looking for it. It probably doesn't exist.

    EMT-B Virtual Patient

There's an iphone app called EMTscenarios which is okay... there are something like 32 scenarios. You don't get to make choices though, you have to form the answer in your head and then click to see if your train of thought is correct. I'd say there's a bit you could learn from it. It'll give...

EMT-B class, online test cheating....a rant.

I hope that they do get expelled - and if they don't, don't worry. They're not going to pass their certification exam Good for you on maintaining that high of an average! It shows that you're in it for the right reasons and are working hard to make sure that your future patients are well...
