foods that are easy to eat while driving

I used to be that way, but my love handles started causing problems and my colon became a gatekeeper to what it believes my therapeutic daily burrito dose should be. Cross that fragile dosing line and you start to look for excuses to check for meds in patients restrooms...

    Cardiac Associated Symptoms

For the OP: It might do good to remember that people will find what's expected. Kind of like stereotyping. We've been trained to have an incredibly high index of suspicion when it comes to chest pain so we tend to categorize complaints that could be cardiac related into ACS, thus it's only...

foods that are easy to eat while driving

I keep a couple of these in my bag. Combine one of these with a bunch of water and I'm good to go. I try and keep peanut butter and honey sandwich halves ready too because they're cheap, easy to eat, and keep.

BLS transport of the ETOH patient

These sorts of patients and calls can run a fuzzy gray line and require good assessment and strong clinical judgement. The problem is that protocols provide a warm fuzzy blanket of removed accountability (hyperbole I know, but it makes the point). Many providers don't have the knowledge and...

I walked into a home bible study once with something similar, but there were only about 10 people doing the prayer and holding hands thing. More power to them, but they were loud. I asked them if God could hear their prayers if silent. Of course the answer was yes, so I told them their volume...

LOL...not my call, but I know a medic that was working a full arrest in the middle of a church service with just his EMT partner because fire was tied up on an actual fire, and dispatch kept asking for patient status to relay to fire while he was in the middle of trying to do a million different...

    What's wrong with refresher/CE courses?

So I've been teaching EMTs for some time now, but this is going to be my first refresher course as lead instructor (yes I'm proud). What I want to know is all of your experiences as to what's wrong with them. I ask this because everyone always complains about having to do them, including...

Lol, indeed. My super awesome spectacular shifts have been known to end with horrific calls at the end of the shift. Slept all day, watched TV, and played video games? Well have a pediatric full arrest, or a status epilepticus kid that when her szr finally breaks starts decorticate posturing...

    difficult partners

As a bit of an aside, it may be useful for the discussion to categorize difficult partners into one of two categories. First is the simple personality conflict and incompatibility. Here a dedication to professionalism on at least one partner's side should provide an environment where the work...

Why does everyone think becoming an EMT-B is so easy

Ditto, but my knuckleheaded self did it over a 3-day weekend and had to wait until Tuesday.

My best guess is that it's a remnant of the AMR strike teams sent in the aftermath of "superstorm" Sandy.

    The Who's Working Out Thread

Yup, that's what I've been thinking, so I made the executive decision to take the rest of the week off, gets lots of sleep, and just do "warm up" routines and stretching. I'm also getting to the point where if I don't do something I start getting antsy. I've been spending the extra time at...

There was no specific reason why I was asking. I don't really see much of reason to have a pump on an ambulance either (at least in my area), but my twisted thought process was mulling over the ruggedness of the equipment. I don't see a reason to make it routine use on a typical ambulance...

This is why I was asking, because your area is essentially my area too, and it's really unheard of. Also of note is the fact that we really don't have any med that needs to be calculated over time like Dopamine used to be anymore unless you want to include MagSulf over ten minutes. Thus I have...

So no opinions or wrong thread? I tossed it in here because I kinda wanted the input of those that hang out in here because I respect you all. Should I toss this question in the education forum?
