    Very good advice.

Pittsburgh EMS, FD feud over response times and ‘hostile takeover’

Perhaps a bit off topic, but i do think more and more paramedicine is largely an individual sport in the sense that the type of provider is less likely a reflection of their service, but instead of their own ethics and beliefs. These providers are truly outliers in the workforce, like any job...

Pittsburgh EMS, FD feud over response times and ‘hostile takeover’

I was mostly joking and am quite aware of R/M and its woes. I did find an R/M FD while driving through Oregon a few months back. And right, since public safety is truly not-profitable it’s (to me) astounding that after about half of a century there’s only been a handful reputable EMS agencies...

Pittsburgh EMS, FD feud over response times and ‘hostile takeover’

Private or public, encroaching on someone’s “territory” is never met with open arms. Even when there’s plenty of pie to go around. Pretty dumb if you ask me, but hey, capitalism. I do wonder how the FD would feel if an EMS agency randomly decided to start fighting fires in their service areas...

Pittsburgh EMS, FD feud over response times and ‘hostile takeover’

If we truly respected one another’s respective public service role, perhaps we would not have such squabbles. If, and only, if…

How old is too old to start?

There is something to be said for reeling in the zealot. Approaching things with a safer, seemingly common sense-driven approach is priceless IMO. Oftentimes this comes with age, experience, and wisdom. Flying by the seat of your pants works well, until it doesn’t. As for management, the above...

Crater Lake—> on down the Cali Coast. Lots of Redwoods. Lots. Drove the whole way there and back. @ffemt8978 hats off to the truckers of the world. Not for me, even with moderately behaved Chur-rens. Glad to be home but what a blast.

    Sapphire pump programming

Half sets have never made a whole lot of sense to me personally, but I’m not sure if that’s just my paramedic brain. Pragmatism.

    Sapphire pump programming

Correct you are, sir. My guess is if, as you’ve stated, you aren’t doing a whole lot of IFT/ CCT infusions then it’s optional (and cost effective) and makes more sense to run an infusion with the entire (full) set. I know for us, we’re utilizing them anytime we start our own drips. If the...

    Sapphire pump programming

A half set is essentially the extension tubing for pre-existing infusions. A full set is the whole enchilada from beginning to end, to include the drip chamber.

Pliable blue case that stores the full and half sets in the back. 1 A/C cable per pump. Our base has 6 pumps, but have heard not all carry the same amount of pumps… @DesertMedic66?

    My dog passed

Every year on Day of the Dead, we still have a spot for our English Bulldog on our Ofrenda who died several years ago. A corner with his picture and all of his favorite snacky treats. Mourning sucks regardless. Sorry for the blues news, @CCCSD.

Ah yes. Indeed I did. Threw my name in the ring and got picked. My Wife is big on all things scholarships since it’s what got her (and really a younger us) through her nursing program financially. She egged me on to fill out the application Any little bit helps. Should have know’d you’d find...

Only other bit I have to the “youngsters” is medical benefits is a real thing. Yes, age takes its toll, but you never know when. Proper mechanics is imperative as is proper health and healthcare. Stay safe, all.

I had my first laminectomy/ discectomy when I was 32, I hope not to have another before I come off of the line. I recovered fast, but was also 10 years younger and 10 years fitter. GL
