What are some extra certifications I can get as an EMT-B in Southern California?

The prerequisite is a survey course, and the real courses are two different classes with the Anatomy Course being a prerequisite to the Physiology course. If you take either of the two real courses the survey course is closed off to you. I would love to take both of the real courses, however...

What are some extra certifications I can get as an EMT-B in Southern California?

It's not exactly a life consuming course. The days that it's scheduled for will be days I have off, it's 2 hours a day 4 days a week for two months, with that amount of time off i'm looking to be more productive to myself and my future than just one course. From what i'm gathering bells and...

What are some extra certifications I can get as an EMT-B in Southern California?

Seems like there's enough alphabet soup certifications to make you blue in the face by the time you're done finding them all, some carry weight in the field, some don't, i'm looking for some practical certifications that will improve my care, and understanding currently and in the future, carry...

    The man unable to move

Haldol isn't an ALS drug in my area, so not familliar with the MoA for it, but did notice it's indicated for acute psychosis from LSD, like I said though, not enough evidence/information for it.

    The man unable to move

Guy could also be borked out on a hallucinogenic. But there's not enough evidence/information to confirm and know for sure enough to give him some haldol for it.

    The man unable to move

If eyes are indeed PERRL, not dilated or constricted, i'm leaning towards treating it as heat exhaustion/heat stroke even though there's some psychosis going on. Pulse and RR are consistent with upper/speedish drugs, the inability/unwillingness to move at all is somewhat indicative of a heavy...

    Altered

Severe sepsis? Usually when sepsis becomes very severe it presents visually in the affected area, I didn't see that in your assessment, neither for recent fevers. Where was he septic?

    Altered

If it was an aneurysm that had a significant difference of BP like that pt had, wouldn't that indicate a serious active loss of blood, therefore pooling on visualization of back/posterior(given position found)? Altered+ dat BP + cold skins indicates shock, also sinus tach. He's also 77 y/o at a...

    Medic under 21 y/o?

It's for driving purposes. If you're under 21 you'll be lucky to find an insurance company that will let you drive. It makes you a less economical decision for companies hiring you, so they should be convinced you'll compensate by being a kickass medic, if they don't have a hard rule on age...

What's the dumbest thing you've said to a patient?

Be trainee, arrive on scene to a priority 2 for a fall at an assisted living facility, ~80 year old female pt laying in position found after fall while ambulating w/ walker, semi-supine(kyphosis) on floor, has kyphosis, AxOx2(dementia), denies any pain whatsoever, PMS intact, no pain on palp...
