    Oh man

I don't know if it's assualt.. I guess it comes down to your county/area or whatever. It's just an unnecessary procedure, especially a male doing this on a female. There are better procedures you can use to assess AVPU. Such as the trap squeeze or nailbed pressure. OP: Original Poster MFR...

    Oh man

Your not looking into it to much, the issue (with this scenario anyways) isn't about doing an AVPU check.. rather how the AVPU check was done. The OP used a sternal rub, which isn't used by EMS and definitely not by the lay person. If you approach an unresponsive person as a lay rescuer you...

    Oh man

That is one of the first things we are to do. First verbal and if no response then we are to do the trap squeeze or nailbed pressure. However we never do sternal rubs.. that's just asking for trouble in my books... well so it hacking off an arm with an axe :P

    Roll Over MVI

I guess you could try it. I honestly think that's the worst scenario I have ever been given. Then when I questioned the person giving it to me, he simply said "hey.. it could happen, just wanted to see how you'd react" So I think he was serious.. that's the scary part.

    Roll Over MVI

Sasha.. sadly I am no serious. That's what they gave me! I know.. I was a little shocked too... CAO.. They just said fire truck/extrication tools weren't available.. I dunno what was going thru their head when they were giving me this scenario. lol And so that's why I put that one on here...

    Roll Over MVI

Was thrown this scenario during training a little while ago.. I guess one of those "think outside the box" scenarios. So it got me thinking.. would anyone else have done what I did? Is it worth it? etc. So here is what happened: You are either dispatched to, or are doing stand by for a speedway...

    ETOH but A&O3

Are his/her vitals stable. Is he/she allowing you to check him/her out? Is he/she acting irrational, aggressive etc.. is there any possibility of self harm or harm to others? (Friends, family, public) If this is just a person who has shot up or w/e.. doesn't necessarily mean we have to...

    ETOH but A&O3

There is nothing medically wrong with him, just because LEO wants you to transport a drunk because he can't remove him doesn't mean you should.. that's using up valuable resources that could otherwise been sent to a real emergency. He got home, wasn't in need of tx, transport or doctors... again...
