    Dr's bed-side manors?

Yep, it left the nephew feeling "Tortured" in his own words. I agree with mycrofft about Nitrous Oxide, even dentists use it and it could have made his experience with the hospital more beneficial than having him never wanting to go to the hospital or a doctor in general again as was the case...

How to eat right on duty?

I tend to stick with Subway for lunch and almonds whenever I need a snack - or catch a call on the way to a Subway. Granola bars are also pretty nifty if you're on a busy shift - though I must admit the Granola bar's seem to be an acquired taste - they are pretty cheap and rather healthy I...

    Dr's bed-side manors?

No worries, apology accepted - and I also apologize for my response as I have obviously taken your's the wrong way. Guess that's the downside to the internet, being hundreds of miles away and never knowing or meeting who you are talking to, or anyone they are involved with, lol.

    Dr's bed-side manors?

Well to the flamer, medical terminology does not super-seed common sense. It's obvious everyone knew exactly what I meant, and I'll point out the obvious in your response. a. A cut into a body tissue or organ, especially one made during surgery. And to further advance this wording, the doctors...

What do you do to take a break from EMS/medicine/nursing/whatever?

I enjoy hiking, swimming, camping and fishing personally. Going to the river this weekend actually.

    Dr's bed-side manors?

Nah, he "lacerated" it, literally. About an half an inch Vertical/Horizontal, didn't go "In" with the scalpel, not sure why he did it that way, but then again he is the doctor - and it worked. He then continued using the forceps. And no valium, just lidocaine. :)

    Dr's bed-side manors?

I had to rush to the hospital yesterday evening after learning my nephew had fallen on a limb which impaled him and broke off. The way my mother and brother were talking it sounded like it had gone through and through. Once I reached the hospital, I found out it was only a small branch and had...

    Accelerated Paramedic Program, or Degree?

Both of you guys have good points. Veneficus - Their "top of the line medics" are based on national standards. I can't post the link, but their program is actually "NEMSA / National EMS Academy" if you want to Google it and tell me what your opinion is on them. They are indeed two separate...

    Accelerated Paramedic Program, or Degree?

In southern Mississippi where I live, there are 4 paramedic programs, the only problem is they have all moved to the Degree Program (2 years). While working for Acadian ambulance in Louisiana I was offered the opportunity to attend their 6 month accelerated paramedic program. I was worried...

how much trouble can this ambulance company get in?

Re I am sure they looked into the county/parish contract that oversees them and made sure it was allowed by the statute, unless they are just completely arrogant. Best piece of advice I can give you from personal experience is not to go burning bridges, you never know when you might need...
