This just wrong, funny, but very very wrong...

haha I’m not alone, I don’t think I even heard any of the questions. My family refuses to watch and medical show with me. That’s probably for the better.

    D50 Orally

So I take it that rectal D50 is not a good idea. What would you do for hypoglycemia with no IV access and no glucagon in your box (only med for low BGL is D50 in Southeast Michigan)? IO or rapid transport? Hospital is usually 10 to 15min away at most for me. What bodily harm can occur...

    D50 Orally

A little off topic but in my paramedic class and very smart medic said he has given D50 rectally (if no IV access and pt - gag reflex) numerous times. Also, can anyone give D50 IO?

    Chest Pain and Oxygen

Thanks, I trust you guys and gals. I just always remembered back in basic class that all CPs and CVAs get NRB's and figured why should that change just because im a paramedic now. Also thought the RN's didnt like the NRB's because I work in the getto and some health care professionals do as...

    Chest Pain and Oxygen

Pt with legitimate Chest Pain, stable vitals, SPO2 99%, and little or no EKG ectopy. Now, do they get a nonrebreather or nasal cannula? I always use a NRB but lately I have been getting questioned by some RN's. My reason is this... When someone is having a possible CVA they get a NRB even...

    Cardiac Auscultation

Had a pt with possible Cardiac Tomponade. Took a listen and sure enough it sounded muffled. At the hospital the nurse looked at me like <_< sure he dose. He ended up getting a little tube put in his heart right there in the ER.

    ETOH but A&O3

Dead drunk... its obvious what we need to do. The question is when they are flying pretty high, A&O4, have no medical problems, and refusing tx.

    ETOH but A&O3

I checked into it more, the reason the police can’t arrest for Drunken in Public is because sometime last summer they arrested one and let him sit in the cage. In the morning he was dead. Oops:unsure: Just a department policy. I don’t want to give out names but I’m sure it wasn’t the first...

    ETOH but A&O3

Our protocols say that until they are no longer A&O3(4) or make an "irrational decision" they can refuse treatment. Now what about someone under the influence of a drug like Heroin or Cocaine but still A&O3 and refusing treatment? Would you sign him off or call the cops to arrest...

    ETOH but A&O3

OK what would you guys do if you had a pt with moderate ETOH on board but still A&O3, GCS 15 and refusing transport? There is nothing wrong with this pt at all, vitals stable. He is a little unsteady on his feet but he is sitting at a booth at a local Coney Island drinking a coffee. PD wants...
