Am I bad at lifting or just need practice?

You likely just need some more practice. It sounds like a silly thing to practice, but it will help. And you won't have to worry about dropping a patient, looking dumb in front of random people, etc. :P I think you would highly benefit from doing some weightlifting, in the way of strength...

    First call?

In fire, a cardiac arrest (turned out to be due to a PE). In 911 EMS, a three year old with a head injury from an MVA. In convalescent EMS, returning a cranky old man to his house after dialysis.

Pregnant medic loses baby after patient assault

I've met three married couples that work together, two at a county service, one at a private. Talk about a test of your relationship

    Where do you live?

Still living with mum for now. Saving money for medic school.

do you have to have IV for TN?

If I'm correct, TN only certifies EMTs at IV or Paramedic now. There are a few EMT-Bs who are grandfathered in and still practicing at a basic level, but I'm pretty sure TN doesn't train EMT-Bs anymore. Though we're supposedly getting an EMT-B, EMT-A, and paramedic system soon, but I'm not...

You might work for a private if.....

You always carry trauma shears. Not for cutting clothes off people, but for cutting the tape that you use to keep the truck held together.

So, what do you (or did you) sip on all day?

Water. I just buy a large bottle of water and refill it when I can. I gave up my diet Mountain Dew addiction.

You know you are an EMT/Paramedic when...

When you see a license plate on the car in front of you that says D50 25M and nearly pee yourself laughing.

    Desensitized to blood--or not?

Blood has never bothered me. It's red, it's liquid, so is cherry Kool Aid. Other things, the idea of it bothers me more than actually seeing it. So once I actually saw it, I didn't bother me anymore. Bad explanation but yeah :P

    How old are you?

Not impossible (hence why I have a job), just more difficult. My advice isn't to wait until you're 21, it's just be prepared to work hard to get that first job ;) but once you get it, you'll be happy you didn't wait.

    How old are you?

Same here, and if you go to EMT school when you're under 21, prepare to play hell finding a job (unless you're in a BFE county and know everybody :glare:) Keep learning. It sounds cliche, but it's so important. Ask your coworkers for their advice. Do online research. Learn about everything...
