AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider Course

I agree 100% Practice and actually pay attention to whats going on! Doing actual CPR on a real patient is not practice. Actually pull the mannequins out on a regular basis. Practice your rate and depth of compression. I was really shocked when we started being able to review CPR quality. The...

    New EMT student. Any advice/tips?

Getting your text early is fantastic advice. I teach in a college setting. We have mandatory information sessions for students prior to admission to our program. I tell every prospective student this. I will even tell them what will be covered the first two weeks of class and the assignments...

    Pass/Fail EMT-B Course

Old thread but I'll add my input. Most drop because they enter the class thinking it is an easy class as others say in this thread. EMT is not an easy class if it is taught correctly. The 120 minimum hour concept for EMT training has to go. The EMT class I teach is 300 class hours and 48...

    Switching ePCR Software Provider

Do you administer Imagetrend for your service? I to find Fieldbridge ok and a good report writing software. I work on the back end in Servicebridge administering our site as well as do QA/QI. I despise this software. Not user friendly at all unless you happen to have an IT degree.

We don't use Statebridge or Rescuebridge. We have Servicebridge and Fieldbridge on the toughbooks.

    Switching ePCR Software Provider

Use Imagetrend, wanting to switch to ESO. The old run reports were my major concern. I know I would have to enter all the providers, etc again. Was just wondering if I had to go find a call from lets say 4 years ago, I could still pull that run report.

    Switching ePCR Software Provider

We are considering switching ePCR providers. Anyone else done this? What were the issues? Did you loose all of your old data? Did it transfer to the new system? I administer our current software and am wondering what I might encounter with a software provider switch.

Do city employed medics make as much as fire medics?

I work for East Baton Rouge City/Parish EMS. 3rd Service Municipal. I believe we make more than the FD. Very good EMS service to work for.

    Acadian Ambulance Service

The Louisiana operations is Acadian. Texas and Mississippi operations are subsidiaries. I don't know what kind of reciprocity issues you would have in La. Just give a copy of nremt card and fee. Same as in Texas. Now if you were going to work both states of course you would need cents in both...

    Acadian Ambulance Service

They are transfer there like they are in Baton Rouge but you would still get plenty of emergency and 911 rollover calls. You would not just respond in N.O.

medical assistant degree higher than medic?

I am still trying to figure out the difference except the title. I am a Certified Texas Paramedic as well. I could be Licensed as I qualify with my BS degree but have not found a reason to spend the extra cash for anything other than the title. It don't seem to get you any extra pay. I just did...

medical assistant degree higher than medic?

I sometimes get an email from this forum asking why I haven't visited in a year so I come back to check it out. I then see post like this and it reminds me why I don't visit. It is a mentality like this that does it for me. For those that wonder why EMS gets treated like it does. Here's you sign.

    Acadian Ambulance Service

The area in Texas they cover kinda sucks but you are close to Houston and that is a cool city. I have lived and worked the Texas area and South East Louisiana. I prefer Louisiana much better (depending what area you live) but would have no problem living back in Texas. I would live closer to...
