    LifePak FiCO2 Alarm

Well, there you go. I learned something new today. Apparently I didn't know what I was talking about.

    LifePak FiCO2 Alarm

http://www.physio-control.com/uploadedFiles/Physio85/Contents/Emergency_Medical_Care/Products/Brochures/LP15_Prehospital_Brochure_3301019_D.pdf The brochure lists SpO2, SpCO, SpMet (methemoglobin), and EtCO2 but no FiCO. I am pretty sure the original poster was confused when he said FiCO.

    LifePak FiCO2 Alarm

I have seen our LifePak 15s alert with similar values to the 9-12 listed, but it is a Carbon Monoxide alert. Our fingertip pulse ox probes measure CO as well as oxygen. I think this was what may have actually alerted. It is common for our new folks to read "CO" and think it is carbon dioxide. I...

    OCD at the station

To JPINFV's point, the clinical distinction between actual OCD and just someone who so neat, organized and professional, is if that person wastes more than 30 minutes a day. (And obviously having the obsessions behind the behaviors.) It sounds like the OP should take it to a supervisor since...

    OCD at the station

As someone who has been officially diagnosed OCD, I can tell you that nothing short of professional help will get them to stop those "bad" behaviors. They are compulsions that will cause the person great emotional distress if they are forced to go against their compulsions. As dropdeded alluded...

911 providers: Does your agency charge people for having you come over?

We only charge if we transport.

    day bag/pack?

I also use the LA Police gear bail out bag. It was cheap but well built. It is just about the right size to hold what I need and still fit behind the seat. It has held up well for the 4-5 months I have had it.

    Toughbooks?

Our company IT guy says the Panasonic Toughbooks are like $500 laptop in a $2500 case, and that is what they seem like. Not great (fast) internals, but ours get the job done. For the laptops that our CAD stuff is on, another (normal, not ruggedized) laptop would work fine. They stay locked on a...

    AEMT- Scope of practice issues

In my state Advanced EMTs are allowed to do both adult and pediatric IOs. I think the purpose of NR testing with manual needles and a pediatric leg is that if you can do the ped manual IO you can for sure do the drill and adult IOs. The reverse doesn't apply. So, NR tests the hardest IO scenario...

    High Winds and NOT RESPONDING?

Tigger, The boxes on our Type IIIs are 96" wide.

    What have you forgot?

I was an EMT for a month and the one driving when I pulled away from a MVC scene with the door to the backboard compartment open. A left hand turn pulling away scattered the 3-4 backboards in the compartment onto the street, for all the firefighters, the supervisor and the police to see. I was 2...

What made you actually chose to become a paramedic?

I didn't feel like I was doing any good for the community/world being a cog in come corporate machine. And at the same time I was in EMT class to augment my skills in Search and Rescue. I started doing my clinicals and realized EMS was for me. As I was going through EMT class, I realized that...

Do you make a good patient?

I don't make a good pt at all. You have to tell me everything that you are doing. I ask to know specific dosages of what you are giving me and why. I insist on knowing alternatives and specific diagnosis. So if you are really good at your job, you tell me those things anyway, but if you slack in...

    Not a gun thread

I second his thoughts. In addition I would like to be allowed to be provided a taser like the X2. I would be willing to pay the $700 or whatever they cost for one if my company would allow me to carry one. I don't want a contact stun gun type zapper.

    High Winds and NOT RESPONDING?

Tigger, The sprinters are narrower, so it takes less force to tip them over (theoretically at least). It also seems like a lot of Type IIs have smaller sway bars so it feels tippier.
