    EMT-P as M.D.

I can't honestly see Paramedic programs being anything more than a really interesting way to catch up on the "fundamentals of not letting people die" portion of medical school. There's just not enough education in a really good paramedic program to make it a fast-track for becoming a physician...

Sexual assault pts & gender of tech

It's a rough subject, especially because I find myself fully agreeing with you as well Ridryder. I don't think I'd ever go along with it as far as getting same ethnicity EMTs or anything like that, I think it would be strictly limited to me as far as same gender goes, just because of the...

    First Failed attempt....EMT-I

Wow so you passed practical exams and passed your academic stuff, but failed NREMT? I am not sure, friend! I think that was a strongly, "had to have been there" sort of question... What puzzled you the most??? Sure it wasn't just nerves? Froze up and your mind went, "screw it!" ?? lol...

Sexual assault pts & gender of tech

I'm not so sure we should be considering situations like this to be "tough luck" in terms of what the patient wants. I personally would not shy away or ask for another same-gender crew unless the patient specifically seemed to desire such a thing. I certainly would not ignore their request...

Studying: B vs I please help

I live in Augusta and honestly the only curriculum that is of any significance (test wise) added to the EMT-I in Georgia is, as you said, IV therapy and IO therapy. Honestly outside of knowledge of that, you just gotta study when IV and IO therapy would be used. e.g. a basic would treat shock...

Finally had one of those calls...

That you just have to share. Responded to a MVA, sedan t-boned by a pickup in a residential area. 5 patients, 4 out and about, appear to be fine, 5th patient is pinned in the sedan. Now, when I say t-boned, I mean realllllllly t-boned. The right side of the car was at least 1 and 1/2...

Ok i really need some help

My apologies actually I wasn't pointing in a different direction. New to boards obviously and completely forgot to see where you are in the 'States. My suggestion was based purely on Georgia (accidentally) where the local colleges I've seen will provide you with the necessary means to get...

I learned how to intubate today...kinda

That's a pretty messed up partner, what the heck? Talk about turning a bad situation into a worse one.

Ok i really need some help

Well, volunteering is always an option and counts towards clinical hours logged as long as you're officially attending a station. Also - this may not seem like such an appealing option - there are colleges all over the place that have paramedic programs that are really not that expensive and...

I learned how to intubate today...kinda

Indeedy, I believe they took this away finally at the end of the year. Or early this year. At least, I know the SC services in the Augusta, GA / N. Augusta, SC area can no longer do it on the basic level and I was under the assumption that was a state wide change. It really does make sense...

    This is bothering me

Perhaps he's just suggesting that the survival rate is about the same in the broad spectrum of things. Obviously there are some "easy" PEA fixes as opposed to few easy asystole fixes. Don't think anyone was arguing against that though.
