    Harsh Winter Gear

THis may seem like overkill but this is a topic we take seriously in Alaska. Our arctic bags (parka, bibs, boots, gloves and head gear) weigh in around 100 lbs + but then we see temps minus 40 to minus 80 degrees F. Some of this will make your day bearable this rest will save you butt when you...

Good boots, the best you can afford since you'll be in them 12 hrs a day Ton of pens Notebook the kind you can write on in the rain Knife but one that clips inside your pocket I also carry blue tinted safety glasses for flat light conditions in the snow, doubt you have that problem in CA My own...

Nationally Registered, but waiting on the state...

NREMT also facilitates filing for reciprocity in some states. I work in Alaska but live in Ohio. To gain reciprocity in Ohio, I am required to submit my AK State certification, NREMT certification and only in Ohio pass a 12 hour advanced airway course.

    School Nurse Wanna Be's

I don't throw it around carelessly. I see no reason why a paramedic would not be classified as a professional. GIven the number of years some of the paramedics in the forum have put in I see no reason why they wouldn't be considered senior professionals. What would you require of them to be...

    OSHA/ASHI CFR Training

In Alaska to be a first responder (ETT - Emergency Trauma Technician) you are required to pass both written and practical exams. The practicals are similar to NREMT practicals just not graded as critical. The state then issues you a card. You must also take and pass a Provider Level CPR/AED...

    backwards epi pen??

Sympathize with you on being nervous. If everyone would answer truthfully you would find most if not all were nervous. But I can't ignore the use of the word "like" in your original post. Like is not the universal noun, pronoun, adverb, adjective, etc... everyone has come to believe it to be...

    School Nurse Wanna Be's

I solved the puzzle. Change the sign on the office door from School Nurse to School Medical Person. In the case of school nurses it's a position or title not a certification. Just because the EMT, Paramedic, etc... is filling the role as obviously requested by the school does not me they are...

    School Nurse Wanna Be's

Should clarify, I thought it was the term Wanna Be's that would get her flamed.

    School Nurse Wanna Be's

Can't believe the topic went as far as it did. I quit lending any credit to it when Candy said the school nurse would be a better choice to deal with Lil Johnny when he fainted as she would know he was hypoglycemic. No medical training required here, only the ability to read a school record...
