    Emt i-85

I am with Puckett. I am set up now for the testing. $100 for the written and $125 for the practical....plus whatever GA will charge for the I-85 license. Sigh...and I just paid for my GA Basic. At least my employer pays me back! As long as the I-85 will be recognized until I am through with...

    Tn emt-iv

Where are you in school at? If you are taking a class in Tennessee you will become a TN EMT-IV and a National BASIC. If you want to get your National I-85 you will have to do that on your own. If your agency does not require the I-85 I would not do it right now since they will be changing to...

    Emt i-85

I was not originally going to get my national I-85 since I am going to Paramedic school next fall, but now that my company has contracts which require a national level I-85 I am taking it. They are going to reimburse us for all expenses. Since I just graduated this year I do not have to take...

    Emt i-85

I tried looking through previous messages to see if this has been brought up before. I am a Tennessee EMT-IV and a National Registry Basic. I have to be dual-licensed in GA for the company I work with due to some new 911 contracts we just won. They want us all to get our National I-85...

I Couldn't Afford to be an EMT

It's the money. I was flat out told that the EMT/Paramedic program is a HUGE money maker for the school. I busted my butt & got magna cum laude. Did all my homework, studied, busted my butt.....and then some kid who couldn't even walk through the first part of an assessment got passed?!? That's...

I Couldn't Afford to be an EMT

I'm not a basic. EMT-IV. Step between basic & medic. It's a huge letdown. Was looking to go through medic school, but now I may do it just so I can bridge to RN.

I Couldn't Afford to be an EMT

Yes... but you get what you pay for. If I saw some of these people on the back of the truck I'd run!

I Couldn't Afford to be an EMT

Yeh...it will just suck working my demanding office job & work on a truck. I'd rather just work 2 part-time jobs. Actually...I'd be working 3 jobs b/c I also teach riding lessons. Why do they pay so little?

    Do's and Dont's of applications?

Portfolio is way too over the top. I used to be in a position where I'd hire people. Sometimes things like that will have the opposite effect. (Too confident, selfish, trying too hard, etc...) It is better to write an awesome cover letter and include any letters of recommendation you may have...

    Hello.... I'm new!

Tennessee still has EMT-B. Most will have the IV certification now. IV is not the only extra skill we get. We can also do Nitro, nebulizer, MDI, epinephrine (auto & sub-q), D50, Glucagon, Oral Glucose (I think I am missing something?) anyway...you get the picture. We can also do advanced airway...

    Bonnaroo Medics

OMG....Bonnaroo is insane. I don't like the lineup this year. It is a bunch of dirty, smelly, drugged-up hippies camping in tents in a large field listening to music all day and night. They typically get some good acts. I'm just not a fan of this year's. I'm sure you will see a bunch of OD's...

    Arming EMT's and Paramedics

I didn't read this entire thread...it's a bit lengthy. Excuse me if I am repeating myself. Disclaimer: I am a newly certified EMT-IV We took an oath to care for people...we help people....we will be dealing with people on the worst day of their lives more than likely. Our position requires...

I Couldn't Afford to be an EMT

I am disappointed in this as well. I looked into salaries and such before I started school. It looked like a lateral move money-wise for me. Yeh...that's only if I can get on full-time at the county with built-in overtime. Very misleading. I got offered a job on a convalescent truck that...

    I Passed!!!

I took my exam today & passed! It cut off at 70 questions. I heard a lot of people say OB & Peds were most of their exam. Mine was mostly burns & extremity trauma & packaging. I'm just so glad I passed! So tired of all these tests!

    Nremt test questions

Not really sure if that's something that can be disclosed or not. I would just say read the questions and answers carefully....and study on your weak areas.
