There is, but I have been working football games lately and have been away from the truck. Also, in the station the reverb is so bad it is hard to hear the calls clearly. Basically I want to make sure I have clear and audible radio contact at all times. Thanks for the info.

I'm in the market to buy a radio for work (they don't furnish them until FT status). My confusion lies here; do I have to be FCC licensed to acquire and use a portable?

The way I see it, the patient is the focus of our care/transport, not the family members. While I have no problem with a single family member riding along in the passenger seat or the box, I don't see any feasible reason to go out of our way to accommodate a disabled family member wanting to...

I did. The EMS service I'm now working for also requires 24 hours of ride time as part of the new employee process.

Well, it's official. I will be starting my first EMT job tomorrow and it will be a 24 hour ride time. I'm nervous, to say the least. I have no field experience at all. Any advice on what to do/expect?

Thank you! My mom does a lot of sewing so I'll pick up a few pairs of the EMS pants you listed and have her reinforce the crotch. Should I be aware of any sizing issues before I order? I learned that ****ies are smaller around the waist so I dont want to make that mistake again.

They provide the shirts, but I'm my own with the pants. No suggestions were given aside from the requirement of dark blue.

My new employer requires navy pants and all I have is the black from my course ride time. Sooo, I need to find an online vendor that carries high quality, yet inexpensive navy EMS pants. Any suggestions?

Didnt see it mentioned here. I have the iPhone app called EMS Logger which comes in handy for marking exact times of events. Nice little app and it's free!

It paid off. I went to a local transport service (MTS) today and talked with the area supervisor. I was pretty much hired on the spot and will start on August 5th. The pay is better than most of the 911 EMS systems in this area and I'm guaranteed at least 40 hours a week @ 5 days a week...
