Time for a change... looking for past experiences

I unfortunately have no college degree due to the fact that I did certification courses, so teaching full time isn't an option where I'm at. They also have the slots pretty well filled for a while around here.

Time for a change... looking for past experiences

Thanks. I actually hadn't thought about selling equipment. I have looked into nursing, but figured that would be the same thing just in a hospital instead of on the truck, which kind of ruled that out for me. I will definitely look into Zoll and Stryker. I have quite a bit of experience with...

Time for a change... looking for past experiences

I've been an EMT and paramedic for a total of 10 years. I started my career in Houston, TX around the time of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. That was more or less a trial by fire to say the least. About 2 years ago I took almost a year hiatus from the field and went back to working retail so that...

    Driver Training

I know that where I used to work in Houston, TX did have a standardized training course that was approved through their insurance company, and it did save them money. The service I work for now is in GA, and they don't get any subsidy for the city/county, so things are a bit tighter than what...

    Driver Training

I hadn't seen that before. Thanks. I know the company is trying not to spend any money if they can help it, so I may end up having to do these videos on my own.

    Driver Training

Hello, I haven't been here in a while, but I am helping develop a driver training course for the service that I work for and would like to find some video clips of proper use of the brake and accelerator pedals. I need it to show how the pedals are feathered up and down to avoid sharp...

    Lapsed National Registry Paramedic

Thanks for the warning on having the official copies. I didn't realize that was such a pain, but I imagine anything from the state office here inGA being difficult.

    Lapsed National Registry Paramedic

Gotcha. I looked up the requirements. I have to take the registry refresher course, then take both the practical and cognitive exam. I mostly just wondering about studying without having to reread all of the Brady series that we used when I took the course 4 1/2 years ago.

    Lapsed National Registry Paramedic

Has anyone out there let their NREMT-P lapse and re certified? I'm just looking for some tips on what you did to get it and what you may have done differently, other than not letting it lapse in the first place.

Is it normal that the closer you are to becoming a Paramedic the more

I completely understand this. I did somewhat forget it at one point, then I quit working in EMS for almost a year. When I came back, I remembered it all over again.

    Green partner

Thanks for all the advice. I have never really had to work with a brand new EMT since becoming a paramedic. I feel like I'm expecting too much somehow, but also feel as though I shouldn't have to babysit someone who is in the process of going through paramedic school. Once again thank you all.

    Green partner

I have a very green partner. Previously this person did tax assessment and then worked in a convenience store. A really great personality and tons of compassion are her best attributes. She however can't keep the truck between the lines, is scared to "get in the way" on scene, and can't remeber...
