FD in Texas paid for my rookie school, EMT-B, and EMT-P, then moved south to a better dept. Firefighting is second in my city.......90% of calls are EMS, no private service here whatsoever. We do it all... that is why I am hanging out here and not Firehouse.com! I need to better my EMS...

probably so.... just FYI, the pt. I was talking about had a niece who was there all the time, but throwing her hands up everytime we got called, so I was under the impression this was not something APS would handle. I guess she just needed a little push to put the pt. somewhere else...

We had a poss. hip fx yesterday at a nursing home..... She was eating dinner in bed when we arrived. Staff said left leg shorter, blah, blah, she lifted her left leg and began exercising it. Transport......

A guy at FD in going Monday for his 4th try....this time on the computerized test...I'll report back on how he did. No subscales! ;)

We were running on a lady every shift, overmedicated, fell out of her chair....laying in the yard, etc.. I now know how APS works. Filled out the online form (Texas), got a call back a week later and they told me she was placed in a nursing home (no doubt where she needed to be). So I guess...

Our capnography is on our Zoll's, we should use it more often... We had several really good classes when we first got it, but we need a refresher. For us, just another tube placement indicator. I know if I have a good visual, then most of the time I don't bother, unless it may be a prolonged...

superknife.... most useful knife I have ever owned, and it is only a razor blade..always a razor sharp blade on hand. I DON'T use this to cut seat belts, and never would. Trauma shears are choice for not injuring pt's.

Doxepin also a good antihistamine......may be used for hives, etc...low dose
