    Can Medics be wrong?

He didn't use the chest pain protocols. He didn't do anything except take vitals and run a IV

    When the rig DOESN'T respond.

oh, and to answer your question Jon; we can respond in a response truck- which for the paid stations is the second run truck. It isn't alllllll to uncommon to hear: "Respone 40 county, enroute". But usually about 2-3 minutes later it turns into Medic 40 because she picks her friend up. For a...

    When the rig DOESN'T respond.

With My agency we have 5 stations in the county; 3 being paid. The other 2 are volunteers. When Station 3 or Station 4(volunteers) have a call, they instantly drop our tones too(Station 1). Station 4 doesn't have a Station because the county, I suppose, has more to do than build another rescue...

    blood glucose levels...

With the Western Virginia EMS, we can use Oral Glucose on a patient as long as they do NOT have a Altered LOC. I've saw some patients who have a Glucose of 56 and still be able to eat and drink(they were eating when we got there), his only complaint was being a little dizzy. After 1 tube of...

    Can Medics be wrong?

I ran with a un-named Float Medic who let a guy go to the Hospital with only a 20 Gauge IV. The bad part is the guy was having almost constant PVC's and Tombstone T-Waves and his QRS complex was all stretched out with a slight ST Elevation.

    Lung Sounds Question

I agree with Hastings. I have never been able to hear Normal Lung sounds, but I can hear abnormal lung sounds(wheezing, rales, Rhonchi, stridor, etc)

SOAP or CHART. (or something else)

I enjoy doing PPCR's because I am very technical. When I call in a report it goes kinda like this: "Remsi Medic 10 to NRVMC on Med Channel 10. They'll answer back, then I'll start off by saying: " We are embound to your location with a -yadda yadda- year old male, called to the scene for a...

Dispatcher sends wrong agecy to wrong location, woman dies.

Yeah, I feel bad for the pt's family. We ran a code a while back, and the way that the streets are laid out they are REALLY confusing. Their are 2 streets of the same name on different parts of the town, anyways, we had alot of trouble trying to find the address and when we got there, CPR was in...

    Can Medics be wrong?

I can pretty much read any EKG rythmn, it doesn't mean that I will call out "PVC, TOMBSTONE T-WAVE!" etc. If I see something that I MAY think is wrong with a monitor, I will ask him/her to check out the monitor for himself/herself. I have confidence in my Medics, but if something may seem odd...

    EMT-P CBT question feedback

From what I have heard, I don't like the way that the NREMT-P test works(from what I've heard). In Virginia we get our card, and training through the Virginia Office of EMS. So it is only good IN Virginia, and nowhere else, I would have to take the whole NREMT-B class and test out in order for...
