    Murphy's laws of warfare

I seem to recall from my time in the Marines that the three most dangerous things were a 2nd Lt with a rifle, a 1st Lt with a map and compass and a Capt with plan.

EMS independant of fire or joint?

In response to the original question. (I hope this is what you were wanting to know.) I'm really new to this field so I may not have all my info completely correct but here goes. In Clark Co WA the majority of fire and ambulance is completley seperate with two exceptions. AMR provides...

    Considering to Enlist

I was in the Marine Corps so my input is based on what I experienced and observed. Navy Corpsman were our favorite naval personnel. The ones assigned to Marine units were not viewed as outsiders but were considered a member of the family. One of the advantages to becoming a Corpsman is that...

    Mountain Rescue

I guess I should have clarified. We also have a FCC license and VHF radios programmed with State SAR, our own team freq, Fire Comm etc... The problem is, with the exception of the one radio programmed with a neighboring counties freqs, everything we have access to is line of sight. (Oddly...

    Mountain Rescue

Mountain Res-Q, I was quite impressed with the way you answered the OPs questions. I seriously doubt I could have done that well and I've field several questions on another forum I belong too. I started in SAR at the beginning of 2004 so I'm going into my 6th year. We have a small...

    What do you guys think

I don't disagree with you. I guess in my naiveity of the fire profession I assumed (I know) that everyone gave their all. You would think I would understand human nature better by now but I guess dispite my growing cynacism I am still an idealist deep down inside. There were several of my...

    What do you guys think

Thanks. It feels good to have finally done it. It is something I have wanted to do for years. Between working swingshifts and having a brand new daughter plans kept getting put on hold. I lost my job last december which finally freed up the time.

Fire Dept Based or Independent ?

I belong to an all volunter non-pfofit Search and Recue Team. We are completely independant of the fire services and to my knowledge we are the only BLS certified SAR team in the state of Washington.

    What do you guys think

I just finished an EMT-B course last month. Out of a class of 30 students there were 5 of us not directly afiliated with a fire dept. 2 of them were volunteers from a SAR group with conections to an EMS/Fire agency, myself and one other from my SAR team and one non-affiliated. With some of...

    Med Control

Its not just your county. We have standing orders and online here in Clark County also. How different is your county from the rest of the state? I had heard that we had a different set of protocols here but now that I've been through the training that turns out to have been a bit of...

    Best Locations for Medic Students/Medics

Come down to Clark Co. WA. No income tax, close to OR which has no sales tax plus the advanages of being close to a big city without the big city living. I love it here and have no plans of leaving again. Also we have a decent RN program at the community college and the ability to transfer to...

    Duty Flashlights?

I've carried both a Surefire G2 and a Fenix TK11. I like both of them. They are easy to carry and don't take up much room. I never leave home without one of them. I do like the tail cap on the TK11 better. I've had less problem with it turning on when it is in my pocket. I also like the...
