Any recommended Paramedic schools in the Sacramento area?

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely check into those more. It's looking like the job market is probably going to be even tighter in Sacramento then it is in the bay area. So I'm not sure I'd even be able to find work as an EMT. I'm hoping I don't have to move back down to Southern California...

Any recommended Paramedic schools in the Sacramento area?

I might be moving up there and just wanted to get some feedback from this forum about any recommendations you would have for Paramedic programs in the area? I'm also going to be looking for an EMT job in the area. So any recommendations of companies to check out would be greatly appreciated...

    Getting cold feet

I'm excited about the fact that I just finished my BS in Fire Protection Administration. I finished with a 3.72GPA which I'm just ecstatic about accomplishing! I was able to finish my schooling, while working as an EMT on an ambulance and doing some standby 911 work. Now I'm in the testing...

EMS - Knowing what you know, would you still recommend it as a career?

Nothing wrong with being a cop. Definitely check out all your options. We always could use another body directing traffic around an emergency scene while we work. :P By the way, most Firefighters are EMT's. Like myself, I'm testing with various Fire Departments while I prep for medic school...

EMS - Knowing what you know, would you still recommend it as a career?

Well you are exposed to dangerous situations, you will deal with people that want to kill you, many times you are unappreciated, you see incredibly depressing things, you see things that a lot of people can't handle, you spend long hours away from your family, and it probably shortens your life...

    SF Bay Area EMS

King American is in San Francisco. Their company, as well as AMR, are backup on the 911 system for San Francisco Fire who is the primary for 911 transports. If this information is wrong, feel free to correct it. This is what I've been told from a few different sources. To add to that... I know...

    Stethoscope - The Mega Thread

On our last full arrest we had a Medic show up with a Littmann Electronic Stethoscope! I rode with them to the ER doing chest compressions in the back of the rig. After the call he let me check it out. That thing was awesome! He said he got it as a present!!! B) Pricey, but awesome!

Worked my first code! (clinical shift)

I remember my first code when I was first starting out in the field. Had one my second day! It's exciting stuff! Like everyone has said, you'll definitely remember it.

    Frustrated about NR cert

Asking for opinions on a forum isn't acting like anything. My information was provided by an official at the county office level who was in a position to give valid information. Anyway I'm over bickering with you about this. I wasn't going to base any arguments with anyone over what was said on...

    Frustrated about NR cert

Two years ago I did pass it and that appears to be directed at EMT's who are first becoming EMT's and are passing the test for the first time. I was asking if it was a requirement in this state when we go to recertify after two years and if individual companies can require it as well. Thanks...

    Frustrated about NR cert

That appears to be directed to EMT county cards cert's and not the national registry portion.
