    What would you have done?

Sounds like he needed the tube. My gut says this was a metabolic issue.

    Working EMT wearing Paramedic patch

The local service does not issue the patch. The patch is issued by Registry or the state. Thus no liability.

    seizure vs. stroke

What kind of medical history did the patient have? Medications?

    Working EMT wearing Paramedic patch

That is correct. I still see no liability. Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes making a mountain out of a mole hill.

    Working EMT wearing Paramedic patch

He is a State of Florida licensed Paramedic! I don't see how it could be a liability to wear a patch on his sleeve.

    Working EMT wearing Paramedic patch

Wow, I don't really see what the big deal is. However, if your officer says you can't wear it, then don't.

    State Card

This is correct. You must pass NR to obtain an OH state cert. After you have your state cert, you are only required to maintain your state cert (40 hours of CE every 3 years). I would strongly advise you to maintain both your NR and State cards.

    Failed practical

That's a ridiculous reason to fail. I guess I don't remember that being one of the critical fail points of that station. So is that the only one you have to retake?

No result yet for the CBT exam I took for NREMT-B

Just relax man. Most likely your results will be up on Monday. It has nothing to do with whether you passed or failed. Be thankful you don't have to wait 6 weeks like the old test!

    Question about SVT and VTach.

12mg didn't convert it and they thought 6mg would do anything? Shouldn't they have tried 6 first and then went to 12 rapid IVP? Amazing that this patient was essentially asymptomatic. How old was the patient? Were they able to convert the rhythm in the ER?

Transport scenario - may be pretty easy

Yep, that's the same thing they'll do in the ER. That's why I don't understand why some jurisdictions have a problem with us removing these things in the field. Granted, there are some situations where these people will need transported to the ER for barb removal (ie. barb in the eye). Heck...

Transport scenario - may be pretty easy

Pulling taser barbs is not rocket science and I'm not sure why the State of Maryland tries to make it such. Unless the barb is lodged in an eye, mouth, or genitals just pull the damn thing out!

Transport scenario - may be pretty easy

This patient needs full spinal immobilization. Consult with the recieving facility and TELL them that your are removing a couple taser barbs from this guys back. Have the cops uncuff him and throw him on a long board.
