I've worked for Care for about 2 months now. I'm still a floater cause they haven't found a permanent shift for me but I love it because when your floating you get quite a bit of 911 shifts. Actually 75% of my shifts are 911. Pay rate is 10.50 for short shifts and 8.75 for 24 hours shifts...

Care is not hiring till 2012 for sure. Get your app in soon because there is usually a wait, I would suggest around November. Medix was reduced to only one station awhile back, so they don't hire much. Your best bet would be Pacific, they don't have a long hiring process either.

Right now I am considered a floater for the first 3-4 months, so they kinda just throw me on whatever they need, then once I get enough hours I can start bidding on permanent IFT or 911 shifts.

Loving it! Really a great group of people. Everyone is always in such a good mood, much different from other ambulance companies. I think the biggest thing about them is that they really do care about their employees.

Yeah, I heard that Gerber is endanger of losing both their contracts in the next year, maybe even by December. However, you guys are forgetting to mention one big ambulance company that from what I hear has a really good shot at picking it up.
