Finally got the job! But feel overwhelmed.

Thanks everyone! I am trying to stay calm and plan on going around to some places in our responding area next week when I have time so I can familarize myself a little more. In the meantime, I am just trying to learn as much as I can, ask questions and review my maps and materials. I think it's...

Finally got the job! But feel overwhelmed.

    911. We have map books, and I went over it the other night for the first time. I'll be studying it a lot.....

Finally got the job! But feel overwhelmed.

I finally got the EMT-B job that I had been hoping for. I couldn't be more excited! And nervous. And anxious. And overwhelmed. I've now worked 4 shifts as a 3rd rider and supposedly after 3 more, I'm supposed to be cut loose as the 3rd wheel and just have a partner. I don't feel ready. At all. I...

Had the job, now getting ignored

Just applied, again, after two supervisors have called me telling me to do so. This process is the most frustrating. I applied two weeks ago and obviously no one got my app then, so will they even get it now?

Had the job, now getting ignored

I did update my app (over 2 weeks ago), i supposedly had to before even getting considered again. But the funny thing is, I actually ran into the guy tonight, and he asked if I applied after I had left a message telling him I did.

Had the job, now getting ignored

They couldn't hold the first position for me so they filled it right away. They said if another position was open by the time I could try again (30 days), then I could go ahead and do the lift test again. There is a position open, and the guy even told me about it a few weeks ago. I applied and...

Had the job, now getting ignored

So, i was offered an EMT-B position at a local hospital (the best in the area) and was pretty stoked about it. But i had to pass the lift test, which i failed because my hand cramped right at the end and i kept drooping the backboard and couldn't get it back on the cot. I was pretty upset. They...

    GOT THE JOB! kinda

Mine was similar - walk a 120-lb dummy up 6 steps and back down 3 times, all while manuvering around corners, then carry a 220-lb across the room and back, and this was done with the dummy on the stretcher. I passed all the other elements prior to these two, but failed the end of the steps when...

    Questions about being an EMT

Im female, 150 lbs and 5'5" and took a fit/lift test yesterday and passed everything but carrying the stretcher with a 220 lb dummy and then a 120-lb dummy up steps and back down 3x. My hand cramped up right at the end, which made the next task hard because my hand was still cramped a little. Im...
