    Paramedic going to FL

MedicJosh, I have talked to people in hospitals around the Sarasota-Englewood area of FL. It seems like some hospitals use Paramedics as ER techs and others use them to the fullest extent of their scope of practice. . . but they all seem to use them in the ED. The smaller hospitals sounded...

    Paramedic going to FL

Come on akmedic, I get enough of that stuff from the kids in class! HA! And thanks for the info. I hope the FL test is easy. I'm so tired of tests at this point.

    Florida cert.

I asked this over at "employment" forum. I'll try here. I'm going to be getting my card in Aug (hopefully). My goal is to move down to FL where I have a house near the beach and work part time in a hospital, doing transports, etc. I am 58 yo so don't expect to be able to land a 911 job...

Talk to people at different EMS agencies. You'll get a good idea after talking to a dozen or so.

So you Want to be a Paramedic???

Is there any credence to looking at pass rates for schools as a way to judge their merit?

    worst call of my Career.

My philosophy is: It was going to happen. And if it was going to happen, somebody had to be there to deal with it. If that somebody isn't me, who then? I try to walk away glad that it was me who was there to assist. So far, so good. It's all part of why I do this job.

Anyone ever been denied an intubation during clinicals?

"As a PARAMEDIC STUDENT you need to learn the basics of being a PARAMEDIC not a Medical Student" I'm thinking that if you work as an EMT-B for a while before going to medic school, you'll know the basics.

Anyone ever been denied an intubation during clinicals?

You guys are rough, but I agree. The more you learn about the body and it's various states, the better you will be as a medic. If the instructor is teaching over your head, you're lucky. Resources are easily acquired these days. Use them and get the information you need to understand this...

Anyone ever been denied an intubation during clinicals?

Of course you don't and I'm not arguing what the doctor intended, it was the way it was done in an arrogant, snotty manner. Again "yes I do mind" and then walks away. It's so easy to be nice when you are talking to someone in a professional situation rather than being harsh and insensitive...

Anyone ever been denied an intubation during clinicals?

Please, have fun. I sure don't take this stuff personal or care what some anonymous person thinks. I only deal with reality. 1. The response and reaction that is the topic of this thread was arrogant and snotty. '"yes, as a matter of fact I do mind" and then walks away.' 2. Any...

Anyone ever been denied an intubation during clinicals?

Well imagine that: an MD acting like an arrogant snob wad. Who would have ever thought. . . forget about it and move on. oh, and get used to it. Yea, it's frustrating dealing with doctors and nurses who have no clue what it's like outside their little world, but you've got to learn to deal...
