Talk to people at different EMS agencies. You'll get a good idea after talking to a dozen or so.

Is there any credence to looking at pass rates for schools as a way to judge their merit?

My philosophy is: It was going to happen. And if it was going to happen, somebody had to be there to deal with it. If that somebody isn't me, who then? I try to walk away glad that it was me who was there to assist. So far, so good. It's all part of why I do this job.

You guys are rough, but I agree. The more you learn about the body and it's various states, the better you will be as a medic. If the instructor is teaching over your head, you're lucky. Resources are easily acquired these days. Use them and get the information you need to understand this...
