    New NREMT Critical Failure

NREMT has added "Failure to perform as a competent EMT" as a critical fail. This is based on a trauma assessment I did yesterday Would you use this as a critical fail, if... The student only asks two A+O questions, then determines the patient is A+Ox1? The student ascultates blood pressure...

BVM Of Apenic Patient and Oxygen Administration

We try to hold mock testing days, but often times we are short staffed and have an abundance of students which makes it very difficult! Again, thank you... I value the opinions!

BVM Of Apenic Patient and Oxygen Administration

@ NVRob, NREMT treats them as two separate skill stations and each of them state "Failure to take BSI" as a critical fail.

BVM Of Apenic Patient and Oxygen Administration

NREMT skill sheets show both skills as BSI being a critical fail. However, if the student actually dons gloves, they are automatically awarded the point and no critical fail. But if they only verbalize BSI for one and not the second (or actually take it on the second), I myself consider it a...

BVM Of Apenic Patient and Oxygen Administration

As a Skills Instructor and Examiner at my local college, I'm asking for some input on this one. NREMT has both of these as a separate skill, however... we test them as a single station, but as two separate skills. If a student were to verbalize BSI on the first skill, but not the second...

    Nor Cal EMT

It has become a problem, there are some companies that will hire you, but you are not allowed to drive... I am not sure of what ambulance companies exist in Butte County unfortunately.

Please help, can't reach medical control

There must be some form of standing orders other than to contact medical direction... If there isn't the only real option would be to let the corrections division know that 911 needs to be actived (if you are unable to contact medical direction that is) and DOCUMENT everything!!! The times...

<--- New guy right here!! =P

Starting rate for AMR basics depends on what county your in, my county starting is about $17. I have medic friends that work my county and their pay is crap as well, almost not worth the time and effort to go medic school... sad to say, that is why I changed course and decided to go with nursing.

    CPAP = code 3?

I hate when management decides what is best for the patient... Especially when they have never worked in the field!

Generally this range of 60-90k annually is if you are medic with the fire dept., private companies vary, but generally for a new paramedic... you are looking at $18-$20/hr to start or about half of what you would make as fire/medic.

    NEW: Illinois EMS license plates!

California came out with one earlier this year... They needed to have at least 7500 people sign up for it in a year before they will produce them, it will be a year in April 2010, last time I looked... only about 190 or so (including me) signed up for it.

MA also means Medical Assistant... I'm not sure why you would need to carry a concealed firearm off-duty... The problem with this field, there are many of the same abbreviations that mean different things depending on the context it is used in, so be very careful... :) btw... Happy Birthday
