What do you use for a watch/timepiece while on duty?

$10 Armitron from Target. I'm on my third (due to losing them-they are pretty rock solid).

Anjel, congrats. Started medic school on Tuesday. Hard to believe its actually happening-here's to hoping my drinking from the firehose ability is up to the task.

City of Yonkers - Empress EMS

I believe they do both ALS ambulances and chase cars. Don't know how the chase cars are staffed-they do staff Dual Medics in their Yorktown chase car(s?). Their ALS ambulances, last time I checked, were a combination of dual medic and basic/medic. I did my BLS ride-alongs with them about...

I buy $10 armitron watches at Target and they work fine (and have military time functionality).

    Boston Marathon Explosion

I was down on the south shore on a dialysis run when the whole thing went down. My partner and i were just talking about how smoothly the day had gone. Then my phone started vibrating off the hook with "Are you ok?". We cleared our call as fast as we safely could and then headed north. Once...

    American Ambulance [Massachusetts]

Probably just a weird way of numbering-all their BLS trucks are numbered 101, 102, etc., so it would fit. From what I understand Mercy and General (as well as Response and a couple of other iterations) became Samaritan before being purchased by AA. There were some shady dealings going on...

    the 100% directionless thread

I got sent to a transfer with a pick up at 2359. By the time we cleared and got assigned again, we were on Run 6.

    American Ambulance [Massachusetts]

According to OEMS (which I realize isn't always reliable, but it's ballpark), American has 15 total vehicles. From what I have seen, the bulk of that fleet is BLS-I'd guess they have somewhere around 3-5 paramedic trucks. As far as intel, I know they recently opened a base in Beverly, so...

    massachusetts job openings

Just out of curiosity, is this in the Springfield/Chicopee area or the south shore/coast? From what I hear, Fallon is hiring ALS if you want to go back. McCall probably is as well, but I wouldn't recommend starting off an ALS career there. I've also heard from a friend who was recently...

Any tips for getting started in EMS in Boston?

As Tigger said, biggest key is applying in person. A lot of these companies get so many applications online, that there is no reason to sift through them since a certain proportion walk their credentials in.

You might work for a private if.....

Yep. And effectively by choice too.

You're not in metro Boston by any chance, are you?

Job prospects for a 20 year old...

NY based companies tend to be a lot more strict on the age requirement. Your best bet is summer camps/theme parks. OP, where in NY are you from?

    Patriot Ambulance MA interview

I took a job elsewhere. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who works there so I'm not much help. Sorry!
