Does anyone know of any reputable oilfield companies that hire EMTs? This could be onshore or offshore.

Walmart Raises Minimum Wage to $10 - Why Not EMS?

Where I work we carry epi pens so we can give them if needed, not assist someone in using one.

Walmart Raises Minimum Wage to $10 - Why Not EMS?

Yes, but does 75K go that far out there? We have the same program here in Maryland and they don't pay that much. Upon Successful completion of the Trooper Academy the salary is increased to $44,124. If accepted into the Aviation Command for a Trooper Medic position the salary is increased to...

Walmart Raises Minimum Wage to $10 - Why Not EMS?

It IS basic first aid. Please don't kid yourself. I do believe we teach EMTs a lot of the wrong stuff. Rather than focusing on how to BVM a CHF patient (WTF?) we should be teaching defensive driving, customer service strategy and how to move and position bed bound patients. How to clean up the...

Walmart Raises Minimum Wage to $10 - Why Not EMS?

A rise in wages equals more expensive care for pts, not true! If that were the case why is every dead beat with a stubbed toe asking for a ride to the hospital. You know right well that if people had to pay for a ride to the hospital we would stop getting all the BS calls. Most places have...

Walmart Raises Minimum Wage to $10 - Why Not EMS?

Last time I checked you did not get state certified and spend half a year in class to do first aid. If it were that easy you could just go down to the local Y and in a few hours pick up an EMT certification. I have a part-time EMT job that pays $15/hour.

    Tactical EMT Class

The military does not have the legal authority to do that kind of LE.

    When?

An EMT should train in the type of enviroment they will be called to serve in, (the field or back of an ambulance). EMTs are there to fix a person up as best we can and get them to a hospital (pre-hospital care), we are not doctors and thus not trained to diagnosis partents. I got pretty dam...

    When?

Then you should not be classified as an EMT, you are an ER Tech.

    When?

Why would an ETM-B program require 36 hours of ED time when that is not what EMts do. It is like telling a chef that they would need to learn to be a waiter while going to culinary school.

    When?

"Mine did as well. Every program I've heard of does, including online." Clinicals refers to working in a clinic, not doing practicals in a classroom setting. There is no reason an EMT-B would need to be in a clinic. The state of Maryland EMT-B certification program does not have clinicals as...

    Tactical EMT Class

I have been in a situation where we were not allowed to go into the "hot zone" because we did not have the training. We were told they would bring the people out to us. In a matter of life and death we should not have to wait for people to be brought to us. "Indeed. Unless your job requires...
