As far as I know (correct me if I am wrong) most Bay Area hospitals want ER Techs who have done phlebotomy in addition to EMT-B. I think positions are fairly hard to come by around here (I live in the Bay too), maybe if you don't have any luck you can work in for one of the ambulance companies...
