So I took my practical today...

I passed :D Time to study up for the written exam. It took an extra long time because of the MA switch to NREMT so I had a brilliant time waiting.

So I took my practical today...

Man I just mean I think I'm over thinking. There's nothing I can do now anyways.

So I took my practical today...

We get practical results, pass or fail, in the mail after the test sheets are reviewed by the MA OEMS. It takes about four weeks for them to arrive.

So I took my practical today...

The thing is the patient had some bruising, but other respiratory signs were pretty normal, cushings triad and broken ankle were about all that was the problem. By MA I mean Massachusetts. The thing is I'm not really sure that the examiner even realized I missed it?

So I took my practical today...

I think I did good. I think. I didn't get any retests. I had spinal immobilization first, then splinting, then CPR, then assessments. The only blunder I made that I both know was a blunder and am aware that I made it was I forgot to take BS/LS on a patient in a trauma scenario. Pt had...

My EMT-B practical is this sunday

As said, my EMT-B practical is coming up, this Sunday. I get a review session tomorrow. This is the MA Practical, I don't know if they will be using MA or NREMT examination materials however. Does anyone have any tips that could help me pass the practical? I've just been studying the...

Good study material to stay sharp before my NREMT exam?

I am checking it out right now and it looks cool, thanks for the help, I'll be sure to use it. I'm still open to other suggestions as well if anyone wants to chime in.

Why don't a lot of EMTs go on to paramedic school?

lol I don't know if I've noticed that one. I for one, feel very excited about going to the next level, but I still need to take it one step at a time, I don't even have my official NREMT-B certification yet. I'm very excited about a prospective future career in ALS, my ultimate, dream...

Good study material to stay sharp before my NREMT exam?

A month will elapse between now, the completion of my EMT-B course, and my practical, followed by the NREMT-B exam a good deal of time after practical. I want to stay sharp on my skills, and other than my big *** text book, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any current, up to date, NREMT-B...

A bone to pick about CPR and how it fits in Primary assessment

Ok this completely answers my question. Yes I have new CPR, I got my CPR card in feb just none of the instructors made it perfectly clear. This was the most helpful answer though, and cleared up A LOT of confusion.

A bone to pick about CPR and how it fits in Primary assessment

Uh huh but I mean in a standard assessment we'd be grabbing BS/LS, RRQ on B and C, CTC, checking for trauma / bleeding giving O2 for AMS etc. I think my question was answered. I just know that we aren't supposed to start interventions until we fully assess the body system in need of it, but...

Alright that just about answers my question, thanks.

A bone to pick about CPR and how it fits in Primary assessment

My class is all done and I'm just prepping for my real NREMT exam. I'm just wondering if in any unresponsive patient, the EMT-Basic is expected to visually assess the breathing and assess the carotid pulse before continuing with our standard ABCs check. Objectively, that is what I want to know...

A bone to pick about CPR and how it fits in Primary assessment

But I'm speaking more in terms if the patient is unresponsive but CPR ISN'T indicated. Such as, pt is unresponsive, fast respiration, fast carotid pulse, I'm thinking shock (given that I can see that patients skin as well), but I'm not thinking CPR. I know on my practical I'm not going to be...

A bone to pick about CPR and how it fits in Primary assessment

So I know CPR, and I know our full assessment. But what I don't know is how CPR fits into that in terms of the fantasy world that exists within a testing environment. Isn't assessing the carotid pulse of the patient technically checking circulation before we complete airway and...
