Hey all!

I will be moving to Sacramento to attend the University there and am seeking a job as an EMT-B. I am wondering if anyone knows what the scene is like up there? I have researched NorCal ambulance and Protransport-1 and I will be applying to both. Any hospitals that use EMT-B's at Pt. Care tech's? Any information would be very helpful...

Thanks!

Another resource to use is this: http://www.dhhs.saccounty.net/PRI/EMS/Pages/SD-Provider-Information.aspx
This is a link to the approved prehospital providers. There's a few more companies out here than the 2 you listed. I don't know who's hiring, but it's worth checking them out as well. The only one I know of that you should stay away from is Priority One Medical Transport as I don't think they actually have a station actually in Sacramento County. While I could be wrong, they probably simply bring an ambulance or two up from Modesto (about 90 -120 minutes away) every day. CALSTAR is a helo company, they employ only RN's.

As to PCT/PCA positions, you'll have to check the hospitals themselves. There should be a link there as well for those facilities. I've been so far out of the loop on who is hiring for those positions that I couldn't even begin to tell you which ones to check out and which ones to avoid.

I believe Medic Ambulance Service of Sacramento might be currently hiring.

Also, look at the casinos. I'm currently employed with Red Hawk Casino (up the 50 in Placerville, east to Tahoe) just to keep incoming coming in and keep working as am EMT. On that note, however, you'll most likly do duel job titles. (Security/EMT myself.)
