Looked through previous posts and not much there. What do you carry in your pockets or in the rig? Pocket Pharmacopoeia, ACLS/PALS cards, local protocol book? Do you even carry material with you or is everything you use on your IPhone, Android, BB, etc...? Maybe you don't carry anything and everything is in your head (good for you) Just curious...

At the hospital, i take prentice hall drug guide, intravenous drug guide, rapid rescue spanish, and i have a nursing software on my iphone. Protocols are in the intranet on my computer cart. Mostly I just work out of my head, but i'm not walking up on unknown medicals and traumas. I get a good report from my shift handoff... or a crappy one from ER, or our IMC if i'm admitting; although, the ICU does always give a VERY detailed patient transfer report, which i greatly appreciate.

I didn't carry any books with me when I was working. However I did have select protocol/procedure sections printed out that was often needed (DNR protocol for the partners who didn't read it. Transport/destination procedure for the ER staff who get's upset when we reroute to there or didn't call paramedics. So on and so forth).

BLS protocols and HAZMAT DOT book. I have no need for more.

BLS Field Guide and Massachusetts Protocol Book in a mini size. I have the free version of Epocrates on my Blackberry, which replaced my pharmacopoeia pocket sized book. I carry all this on my person.

San Diego protocol book in my backpack and whatever I'm studying at the time.
